Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in Hyderabad is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, and operate IT infrastructure across on-prem and cloud environments.

You will work with hardware, networking, virtualization, and security to ensure reliable, scalable services and collaborate with software engineers and IT teams. The role emphasizes automation, scripting, and IaC using PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, and CI/CD practices, with exposure to VMware, AWS/Azure/GCP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science or any Technology stream.
• 4 years of hands‑on experience working with network and system administration for Windows servers.
• Scripting and Automation Skills in scripting languages like PowerShell or YAML
• Orchestration Windows automation development and management tools (Ansible, Terraform).
• DevOps practices
• Experience with Git or other source control, infrastructure as code (IaC), observability, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
• Cloud and Virtualization Platforms
• Proficiency in virtualization (Vmware) and familiarity with cloud (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) platforms.
• Networking
• Understanding of virtual networks, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Operating Systems
• Knowledge of current Windows operating systems.
• Experience and administration of Active Directory and Group Policy.
• Security Best Practices
• Familiarity with IT security practices and compliance (Qualys).
• Problem‑Solving Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
• Product and customer‑centric approach.
• Experience with other programming languages (Python, Bash) is a nice to have.
• Experience with traditional disaster recovery & data backup solutions (Commvault, Acronis).

Role Overview

An Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and supporting the infrastructure that enables an organizations IT systems and services to run smoothly. This includes working with hardware, networking, virtualization, cloud environments, and security systems to ensure the organizations IT infrastructure is efficient, reliable, and scalable.
