Job summary

MSD Malaysia in Hyderabad seeks an experienced Manager-Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, and manage IT infrastructure across hardware, virtualization, cloud environments, and security to support our global healthcare portfolio.

You will lead data archival initiatives, automate routine tasks, and collaborate with business and IT teams in a matrix Tech Center to deliver scalable, secure solutions that enable digital transformation across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or any Technology stream.
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience with network and system administration for Linux/Unix and Windows servers.
• 3-5 years designing & developing scalable archival solutions.
• Experience integrating archival products with databases, file systems and cloud storage.
• Experience with Archival product vendors such as OpenText, SOLIX, Informatica, etc.
• Building data pipelines for data ingestion and retrieval from source systems to archive.
• Experience with Oracle, SQL, CITUS, Hive, and querying knowledge.
• 1-2 years of AWS/Azure Cloud along with IaC/CI/CD tools.
• Knowledge of virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix) and cloud platforms.
• Networking concepts, Windows/Linux administration, scripting (Bash/PowerShell/Python).
• DevOps practices, security, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage design, procurement, installation, upgrading, operation, and maintenance of technology services.
• Collaborate to develop Data Archival solutions for application retirement and live data archival.
• Update product designs to automate routine system administration tasks using standard tools and software development practices.
• Provide strategic direction for the design, development and support of Data Archival infrastructure across the life cycle.
• Work within a matrix structure, reporting to functional and product managers.
• Participate in product planning, execution, and delivery aligned with product goals.

Role Overview

An Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and supporting the infrastructure that enables an organization's IT systems and services to run smoothly. This includes working with hardware, networking, virtualization, cloud environments, and security systems to ensure the organization's IT infrastructure is efficient, reliable, and scalable. Infrastructure engineers often work closely with software engineers, IT support teams, and system administrators to optimize performance, mitigate risks, and deliver high-quality services to end-users.

What will you do in this role

• Manage the design, procurement, installation, upgrading, operation, control, maintenance, and effective use of specific technology services.
• Collaborate with business and IT teams to develop Data Archival solutions for Application retirement, Decommissioning and Live Data Archival.
• Carry out and also improve system software development and maintenance tasks by updating the product design to automate routine system administration tasks using standard tools and software development practices.
• Provide help with strategic direction and oversight for the design, development and support of Data Archival infrastructure that includes the full life cycle of technical
• Work within a matrix organizational structure, reporting to both the functional manager and the Product manager.
• Participate in Product planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring alignment with Product goals.

What should you have

• Bachelors’ degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or any Technology stream.

• 3+ Experience with integrating archival products with databases, file systems and cloud storage.
• Data Archival Platforms: Experience with Archival product vendors (OpenText Info Archival, SOLIX, Informatica, etc)
• Building data pipelines for efficient data ingestion and retrieval from source systems to archive.
• Databases: Experience on databases like Oracle, SQL, CITUS, Hive, etc & Querying Knowledge
• Automation & Cloud Platform: At least 1-2 year of experience with AWS/Azure Cloud as well as the infrastructure automation & management tools (ex: Ansible, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Azure DevOps, etc).
• Cloud and Virtualization Platforms: Proficiency in virtualization (Vmware, Hyper‑V, Nutanix) and familiarity with cloud (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) platforms.
• Networking: Understanding of virtual networks, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Operating Systems: Experience working on Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Scripting and Automation: Skills in scripting languages like Bash or PowerShell or Python.
• DevOps practices: Experience with Git, infrastructure as code (IaC), observability, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
• Security Best Practices: Familiarity with IT security practices and compliance.
