About this role: As a Specialist in the Tech Market Economics Data Engineering team, you will join a rapidly growing team in builder mode, where curiosity, initiative and engineering excellence help shape Gartner's next generation of analytical platforms.
Working alongside technical leaders and architects, you will help build, develop, and operate the data pipelines and services that power Gartner's quantitative research capabilities. This is a critical role in scaling analytical and AI-enabled capabilities from concept to production while helping reimagine Gartner's data, analytics and market intelligence ecosystem. Few roles provide comparable exposure to Gartner's research, data, forecasting, market intelligence and AI initiatives, creating exceptional opportunities for learning, growth and career development. Working at the intersection of data engineering, analytics, AI and research, you will help transform innovative ideas into scalable, production-grade capabilities leveraged across Gartner Research and Advisory.
Education: Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related quantitative discipline.
Experience: 0-2 years of professional experience in data engineering, data management, analytics, software engineering, or related disciplines involving data integration, transformation and quality.
Business Translation: Ability to collaborate across technical and non‑technical teams, translating business problems into scalable data and analytical solutions while helping uncover and contextualize insights from data.
Platform Experience: Experience building, maintaining or supporting data platforms, databases, pipelines or analytical systems using data from multiple sources.
Engineering Best Practices: Understanding of software engineering best practices including testing, code quality, documentation, version control and the design of reusable components.
Quality & Governance: Strong understanding of data quality, data governance and scalable engineering practices.
Programming: Strong Python programming skills and experience developing data pipelines, analytical workflows or automation solutions.
Technology Stack: Experience using one or more of the following: SQL and modern data engineering technologies ETL/ELT tools for data integration and workflow automation APIs, web scraping technologies and data extraction tools Cloud, analytics or AI‑enabled data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake or similar).
Data‑driven and analytically curious, with a genuine passion for data, AI technologies, and the role they play in creating scalable business value. Eager to explore patterns, signals, and opportunities that improve research and decision‑making while continuously learning new approaches.
Thrives in a fast‑moving, high‑growth environment, balancing multiple priorities while proactively solving problems and driving outcomes. Strong problem solver with excellent attention to detail and the ability to translate complex technical challenges into practical, robust production capabilities.
Effective communicator capable of translating technical concepts and business problems into scalable analytical solutions for business, research, and analytical audiences.
