Qualifications

5+ years in cloud or infrastructure delivery roles.
Strong hands-on Azure implementation experience.
Proven involvement in migration or transformation projects.
Working knowledge of: Azure Compute, Storage, Networking.
Azure AD / RBAC / Hybrid Identity basics.
Windows and Linux administration experience.
Basic automation/scripting exposure.
Experience working in professional services / project-based delivery environments.

Responsibilities

Implement Azure landing zones and subscription structures as per approved architecture.
Deploy core Azure services: Virtual Machines, VNets, Subnets, NSGs, Load Balancers, Storage Accounts.
Configure availability, backup, DR, and security baselines.
Execute workload onboarding and cutover activities during migration projects.
Perform build, test, and production go-live activities.
Prepare implementation guides, build documents, and handover packs.
Participate in design walkthroughs and technical workshops with customers.
Perform on-prem to Azure and cloud-to-cloud migrations.
Assist with discovery and assessment phases using Azure Migrate.
Execute replication and cutover activities using ASR and Data Box.
Support post-migration stabilisation and optimisation phases.

Position Summary

The Azure Implementation Engineer is responsible for building, migrating, and onboarding customer environments into Microsoft Azure as part of structured delivery projects. The role works closely with Solution Architects, Project Managers, and Security teams to implement approved designs, execute migration waves, and prepare environments for steady‑state operations.

The position requires hands‑on Azure deployment skills and basic Active Directory knowledge to support hybrid enterprise workloads.

This is primarily a project delivery and implementation role, with limited post‑go‑live stabilization support.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Working in collaboration with the Regional Service Centre and Azure Delivery teams, responsibilities include:

Azure Implementation & Project Delivery

Implement Azure landing zones and subscription structures as per approved architecture.
Deploy core Azure services: Virtual Machines, VNets, Subnets, NSGs, Load Balancers, Storage Accounts.
Configure availability, backup, DR, and security baselines.
Execute workload onboarding and cutover activities during migration projects.
Perform build, test, and production go‑live activities.
Prepare implementation guides, build documents, and handover packs.
Participate in design walkthroughs and technical workshops with customers.

Migration Execution

Perform on‑prem to Azure and cloud‑to‑cloud migrations.
Assist with discovery and assessment phases using Azure Migrate.
Execute replication and cutover activities using ASR and Data Box.
Support post‑migration stabilisation and optimisation phases.
Track technical actions for migration waves and project milestones.

Identity & Active Directory

Support identity integration between on‑prem AD and Azure AD / Entra ID.
Perform user/group sync checks and RBAC configuration.
Understand AD fundamentals: OUs, DNS, Group Policy basics.
Assist with MFA and conditional access rollout as part of projects.

Automation & Tooling

Implement builds using ARM, Bicep, or Terraform templates for to deploy VNets, AKS clusters, and SQL databases.
Support Azure DevOps pipelines for infrastructure deployment.
Use PowerShell / Azure CLI for automation during migrations and builds.

Security Implementation

Hardening the environment by Zero Trust principles.
Configuring Microsoft Entra ID (IAM) and enforcing Azure Policies.

AI Integration

Build infra for Azure OpenAI and Azure AI Search.

Operational Readiness & Handover

Assist in operational readiness activities before transition to support teams.
Create SOPs and runbooks for steady‑state environments.
Participate in knowledge‑transfer sessions with managed services teams.
Ensure governance, tagging, and security standards are implemented before handover.

Qualifications and Experience

An Azure Support Engineer should also have the following qualifications and experience-
