Job summary

Cyient, Hyderabad, is seeking an electronics manufacturing technician with hands-on soldering and PCB assembly experience. The role focuses on manual soldering, PCB rework, and quality inspection to meet aerospace/defense standards.

You will read engineering drawings, BOMs and work instructions, operate soldering and rework equipment, and ensure proper 5S and safety practices, collaborating with production and quality teams to achieve targets.

Qualifications

• 4–5 years hands-on experience in manual soldering and PCB assembly.
• Experience with through-hole (THT) and SMD soldering.
• PCB rework, desoldering, component replacement and repair experience.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, circuit diagrams, BOMs and work instructions.
• Knowledge of soldering tools and rework equipment.
• Identify soldering/PCB defects and perform rework.
• Experience in inspection, rework and quality control of assemblies.
• Knowledge of IPC J-STD-001 / IPC-A-610 and related certifications is advantageous.
• ESD handling and workplace safety procedures.
• Good communication and attention to detail; ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual soldering of electronic components on PCBs (THT and SMD).
• Carry out PCB rework, desoldering, component replacement and repair.
• Assemble electronics per drawings, BOMs and work instructions.
• Inspect solder joints and PCBs for defects (insufficient solder, bridges, cold joints).
• Identify defects and perform rework and corrective actions.
• Follow ESD and safety procedures during production activities.
• Operate soldering stations, hot-air/rework stations and related equipment.
• Maintain 5S, cleanliness and organization of workstation and production area.
• Communicate with production, quality and engineering teams to resolve issues.
• Complete production and inspection records accurately.
• Work independently and as part of a team to meet targets.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

1. Perform manual soldering of electronic components on PCBs, including through-hole and SMD components.
2. Carry out PCB rework, desoldering, component replacement, and repair of defective electronic assemblies.
3. Assemble electronic products according to engineering drawings, work instructions, BOMs, and quality requirements.
4. Inspect solder joints and assembled PCBs for defects such as insufficient solder, solder bridges, cold joints, lifted pads, and component misalignment.
5. Identify soldering and assembly defects and perform appropriate rework and corrective actions.
6. Follow ESD (Electrostatic Discharge), safety, and handling procedures during all production activities.
7. Operate soldering stations, soldering irons, hot-air/rework stations, and other related equipment safely and effectively.
8. Perform visual inspection and quality checks to ensure assemblies meet specified workmanship standards.
9. Maintain proper 5S, cleanliness, and organization of the workstation and production area.
10. Maintain good communication with production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve assembly and rework issues.
11. Complete production and inspection records accurately as required.
12. Work independently as well as effectively within a team to meet production targets and quality requirements.

Preferred candidate profile

• 4 - 5 years of hands-on experience in manual soldering, PCB assembly, and PCB rework/desoldering.
• Strong experience in through-hole (THT) and SMD component soldering.
• Practical experience in electronic assembly, PCB rework, component replacement, and repair.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, circuit/assembly diagrams, BOMs, and work instructions.
• Good knowledge of soldering tools, soldering stations, rework stations, and related electronic assembly equipment.
• Ability to identify common soldering defects and PCB assembly defects and perform effective rework.
• Experience in inspection, rework, and quality control of electronic assemblies.
• Good knowledge of ESD handling and workplace safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and attention to detail.
• Experience in aerospace and defense PCB assembly.
• IPC J-STD-001 / IPC-A-610 certification or relevant soldering certification is an added advantage.
• Experience with IPC Class 2/Class 3 workmanship requirements is preferred.
