Job summary

Candescent is seeking a hands-on Test Automation Engineer to strengthen API testing and automation for our AI-powered digital banking platform. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable API test suites with Postman, collaborate with backend and DevOps, and ensure high-quality deliveries across environments.

Ideal candidates have 6–9 years of experience in API testing, strong JavaScript scripting in Postman, and familiarity with JWT, API keys, Newman, and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in API and end-to-end testing.
• Strong API testing using Postman, RESTful APIs, and HTTP protocols.
• Expertise in JavaScript-based test scripting in Postman.

We are seeking a hands-on Test Automation Engineer with strong expertise in Postman-based API testing and automation. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and maintain scalable API test suites, collaborate closely with backend and DevOps teams, and ensure high-quality, reliable API deliveries across environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive API testing using Postman, covering RESTful endpoints (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE), validation of HTTP status codes, response bodies, headers, error handling, edge cases, and JSON/XML payloads, including authentication and authorization using JWT and API Keys.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated API test suites in Postman by writing dynamic and reusable JavaScript-based test scripts, creating and managing collections, environments, variables, pre-request scripts, and parameterized test data.
• Execute and automate API tests using Postman Collection Runner and Newman CLI, generate and analyze HTML and JSON reports, and ensure automation assets are scalable, reusable, and maintainable.
• Version and manage API automation assets (Postman collections, Newman scripts, and test data) using Git (GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket), following standard branching, pull request, code review, and merge practices, with support for CI/CD pipeline integration.
• Manage API defects end-to-end by logging, tracking, validating, and closing issues in Jira, providing detailed request/response artifacts and logs, and re-testing fixes to ensure quality closure.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with backend engineers, DevOps, and business analysts to clarify requirements, align on test expectations, and actively participate in sprint ceremonies and release readiness activities.

Required Skills & Experience

• Above 7 years of hands-on experience in API and end to end Testing.
• Strong hands-on experience in API testing using Postman, PractiTest Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and HTTP protocols.
• Expertise in JavaScript-based test scripting in Postman.
• Experience with API security mechanisms (JWT, API Keys).
• Practical experience with Newman CLI and report generation.
• Working knowledge of Git-based version control systems.
• Experience with defect tracking tools, preferably Jira.
• Good to Have Basic understanding of API performance testing concepts.
• Exposure to CI/CD tools and pipeline-based test execution.
