Cisco Meraki is hiring a Software Engineering Technical Lead to drive high‑performance system software for switches and wireless ACM devices. You will lead design and implementation of networking firmware, focusing on scalable L2/L3 functionality and robust performance.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in computer science, electrical/elec engineering or related field.
• Proficient in writing quality code in C/C++ for networking products.

Responsibilities

• Architect networking components that are simple, scalable, and highly available for Cisco Meraki switches and firmware.
• Analyze requirements and craft design documents and functional specifications.
• Code, unit test and perform white-box testing; triage and debug customer failures.
• Collaborate with local and remote teams on PRD, SW specs and test plans; review test strategies.
• Innovate to create IP value and potential patents for the company.

Your Impact

In this pivotal role, Your work will directly enhance the connectivity and configuration of L2/L3 protocols on our switches, ensuring seamless management and impeccable performance for Meraki’s switches.. You will lead significant features and play a crucial part in shaping the future of switching.

Responsibilities

• Architect networking components that are simple, scalable, and highly available. Design and development of Firmware for Cisco Meraki’s Switching, products.
• Analyse requirements and problem statements to come with right software designs and solutions. To be able to write details Design documents and Functional Specifications.
• To Code and Unit Test Software components and modules. It is required to have strong white- box testing and automating skills. Triage, debug, and root cause simulation, software bring‑up, and customer failures
• Work with local and remote teams to review Product Requirements Document, to collaborate on SW Functional and Design Specifications, Unit and Integration test plans. Also responsible for reviewing test strategy and test plans for Functional and System Test teams.
• To be able to innovate and come up with new ideas that can lead to filing patents and creating IP value for the company

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors (12-15 years) or Master’s degree(10-12 years) in Computer Science, EE/ECE or related fields.
• Proficient in writing quality code in C/C++.
• Experience in developing software/firmware for networking products.
• Excellent knowledge of software architecture and system design.
• Experience in Concurrent Programming and IPC/RPC Mechanisms
• Expertise in Network Fundamentals (L2/L3): Your solid understanding of network basics will be your foundation.
• Experience using Traffic generators/Analysers such as IXIA/Sniffer is a plus.
• Technical leadership experience in leading high performance teams to provide technical leadership for designing and implementing quality features and solutions.
• Hands on experience with Gen AI technologies (Codex, Claude etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with debugging and verification methodologies in C/C++.
• You have hands‑on development experience on L2, L3 protocols.
• Cisco Networking certificates such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE are desirable.
