Job summary

Cisco Meraki in Bengaluru seeks a visionary firmware/software engineer to join the Network Connectivity Team as a Software Engineering Technical Lead. You will design and develop high‑performance system software for our cloud‑managed switches, routers, and wireless devices, driving features from concept to delivery.

Lead a high‑performing team, influence architecture, and partner with cross‑functional groups to ensure scalable, reliable networking solutions powering Meraki’s switching platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelors (12-15 years) or Master’s degree in Computer Science, EE/ECE or related fields.
• Proficient in writing quality code in C/C++.
• Experience in developing software/firmware for networking products.
• Excellent knowledge of software architecture and system design.
• Experience in Concurrent Programming and IPC/RPC Mechanisms.
• Expertise in Network Fundamentals (L2/L3).
• Experience using Traffic generators/Analysers such as IXIA/Sniffer is a plus.
• Technical leadership experience in leading high performance teams to provide technical leadership for designing and implementing quality features and solutions.
• Hands on experience with Gen AI technologies (Codex, Claude etc.)

• Review Product Requirements Documents and collaborate on SW Functional/Design Specifications.
• Review test strategy and test plans for Functional and System Test teams.
• Innovate and contribute ideas that can lead to patents and IP value for the company.

In this pivotal role, Your work will directly enhance the connectivity and configuration of L2/L3 protocols on our switches, ensuring seamless management and impeccable performance for Meraki’s switches.. Responsibilities

• Architect networking components that are simple, scalable, and highly available. Design and development of Firmware for Cisco Meraki’s Switching, products.
• Analyse requirements and problem statements to come with right software designs and solutions. To be able to write details Design documents and Functional Specifications.
• To Code and Unit Test Software components and modules. It is required to have strong white- box testing and automating skills. Triage, debug, and root cause simulation, software bring-up, and customer failures
• Work with local and remote teams to review Product Requirements Document,to collaborate on SW Functional and Design Specifications, Unit and Integration test plans. Also responsible for reviewing test strategy and test plans for Functional and System Test teams.
• To be able to innovate and come up with new ideas that can lead to filing patents and creating IP value for the company

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors (12-15 years) or Master’s degree(10-12 years) in Computer Science, EE/ECE or related fields.
• Proficient in writing quality code in C/C++.
• Experience in developing software/firmware for networking products.
• Excellent knowledge of software architecture and system design.
• Experience in Concurrent Programming and IPC/RPC Mechanisms
• Expertise in Network Fundamentals (L2/L3): Your solid understanding of network basics will be your foundation.
• Experience using Traffic generators/Analysers such as IXIA/Sniffer is a plus.
• Technical leadership experience in leading high performance teams to provide technical leadership for designing and implementing quality features and solutions.
• Hands on experience with Gen AI technologies (Codex, Claude etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with debugging and verification methodologies in C/C++.
• You have hands-on development experience on L2, L3 protocols.
• Cisco Networking certificates such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE are desirable.
