Job summary

Cisco Meraki is seeking a senior- level engineer to join the Mars team and help deliver scalable, reliable, and secure networking software. You will work across the full stack to ship features on the Meraki Dashboard and related Cisco Catalyst platform, influencing design decisions and mentoring teammates.

The role requires deep backend experience with Go/Ruby/Python, strong system design skills, and leadership in fast-paced agile environments across distributed teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field; 12+ years experience, or Master's with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years.
• 3+ years of professional coding in web backend technologies (Ruby on Rails, Go, Python) and safe deployment with feature flags/A B tests.
• Demonstrated experience in architectural and system design choices with trade-offs.
• Experience with Emulation and Simulation of Networking devices.
• Project leadership with well-scoped milestones and measurable progress.
• Thrives in fast-paced agile engineering teams across the stack.

Your Impact

• Work across the full stack, building highly scalable distributed solutions that enable delightful user experiences and measurable business growth
• Ensure reliability, performance and operational excellence of these systems by adding tests, telemetry and alerting systems
• Take complete ownership from conception to production release by demonstrating your ability to influence, facilitate, and work across different teams.
• Partner with EM/PM and other collaborators so define teams direction based on engineering and business priorities
• Solve software defects, networking issues, and customer-reported problems while improving performance, scalability, and reliability.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field and 12+ years of related experience, or Master's degree with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years of related experience.
• 3+ years of experience of professional coding web backend technologies, such as Ruby on Rails or similar as well as Go/Ruby/Python and rolling services out safely to customers using feature flags, A/B tests etc
• Demonstrated experience making architectural and system designc hoices. Ability to communicate the trade offs and mentor other team members
• Practical experience with Emulation and Simulation of Networking devices
• Project Leadership through defining well-scoped stepping stones for a project(s) based on loosely defined business problems and can identify metrics to track project progress.
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced agile engineering team and are excited to solve open-ended problems across the stack by rolling your sleeves up and working in all layers of the stack!

• Experience with networking devices.
• Experience with Cisco CML.
• Experience systems software design, or large-scale distributed networking solutions.
• Experience working across cross-functional or geographically distributed engineering teams. teams.
