Visa seeks an experienced QA Engineer to build and maintain scalable API test automation for distributed microservices in a mission-critical financial environment. The role emphasizes Playwright-based API testing, REST API validation, and CI/CD integration, with collaboration across backend teams to ensure reliability and rapid feedback.

The candidate will work in a hybrid setup with some on-site presence in Bengaluru, contributing to robust testing strategies, data management, and environment

Competenze

• 8+ years of relevant work experience with a bachelor's degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 11+ years of relevant work experience.
• Proven ability to validate REST APIs, service integrations, contracts, authentication/authorization flows, error handling, retries, and data consistency across distributed systems.
• Experience building scalable automation suites integrated into CI/CD pipelines with clear reporting and fast feedback loops.
• Strong engineering mindset with code review, debugging, and collaboration with backend teams to improve platform reliability.

Job Description

Overview

This role will be part of a team that is responsible for building and maintaining highly scalable, high availability microservices within various financial domains. The team plays a critical role in enabling seamless product journeys by orchestrating calls across multiple squad microservices. We ensure continuous delivery of new features while maintaining zero-disruption deployments, safeguarding system stability and reliability in a mission-critical financial environment.

Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant work experience with a bachelor's degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 11+ years of relevant work experience.

Role specific Skills and Competencies

• Strong hands‑on experience designing and implementing backend-heavy API test automation frameworks, with deep expertise in Playwright for API and end-to-end testing.
• Proven ability to validate REST APIs, service integrations, contracts, authentication/authorization flows, error handling, retries, and data consistency across distributed systems.
• Experience building scalable, maintainable automation suites integrated into CI/CD pipelines, with clear reporting, test stability controls, and fast developer feedback loops.
• Ability to define quality strategy for microservices-based platforms, including integration testing, service virtualization/mocking, test data management, and environment validation.
• Strong engineering mindset with proficiency in code review, debugging, root-cause analysis, and collaboration with backend engineering teams to improve platform reliability and release confidence.
• Experience validating failure modes and correctness in event-driven and asynchronous architectures.
• Experience with AI driven development ecosystem, preferably one of Cluade, Cursor, OpenAI Codex, Amazon Kiro.
