Barclays in Pune is seeking a Software Engineer - PBI Data Analytics to design, develop, and improve BI solutions using Microsoft Power BI and supporting data technologies for internal stakeholders.

You will build, automate, operate, and govern Power BI datasets, models, reports, and dashboards, collaborating with data engineers and business teams to translate requirements into analytical solutions while ensuring data quality and security.

Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI (Power BI Desktop, Service, DAX).
  • Ability to interpret business requirements, define meaningful metrics, validate data, and communicate actionable insights.
  • Experience integrating, transforming, and modelling data from enterprise sources such as SQL Server, Snowflake, APIs, Excel, and flat files.
  • Practical knowledge of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modelling, data quality, data governance, and secure handling of data.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise data platforms, including data storage, transformation, semantic modelling, analytics, and governed report deployment.
  • Experience optimizing Power BI semantic models and reports for performance, scalability, usability, and maintainability.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, data engineers, and technology teams throughout the solution delivery lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, documentation, and communication skills.

  • Optimize Power BI data models, DAX calculations, refresh processes, and report performance.
  • Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
  • Develop optimized data models using DAX measures and calculated columns.
  • Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading using Power Query (M).
  • Translate business requirements into analytical and visualization solutions.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and business stakeholders.
  • Perform data validation and ensure accuracy of reported metrics.
  • Participate in peer reviews and promote BI best practices.

Job Description Purpose of the role To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities
  • Development and delivery of high‑quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
  • Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross‑functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.

  • Exposure to AI, machine learning, generative AI, or AI‑assisted analytics, including awareness of responsible AI principles and practical business use cases.
  • Experience with Python, PySpark, SQL, or other technologies used for data preparation, automation, and advanced analytics.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, Power BI Dataflows, Snowflake, Databricks, or similar modern data and analytics platforms.
  • Understanding of data pipelines, dataflows, dimensional models, data warehouse architectures, and migration of legacy reporting solutions to Power BI.
  • Familiarity with Jira and JQL for sourcing, analysing, and enhancing reporting data.
  • Experience working in banking, financial services, or another regulated enterprise environment.
