Job summary

NetApp, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer 3 for its API Platform Engineering team.

You will design, develop, and deploy scalable, cloud-native APIs and services while collaborating with Product Management, Architecture, QA, and cross-functional teams to shape technical direction and deliver secure, reliable, and customer-centric solutions. The role requires 4–7 years of experience and strong Node.js and Python skills, with hands-on work on REST and GraphQL APIs, distributed systems, and AWS.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of medium to large features from analysis to deployment and production support.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services with Node.js and Python.
• Enhance RESTful and GraphQL APIs for customer-facing and internal apps.
• Lead technical design discussions and contribute to API platform architecture decisions.
• Drive API design standards, engineering best practices, code quality, reliability, performance, and security.
• Build, deploy, and operate cloud-native apps using AWS technologies.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and implement sustainable fixes.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and pairing.
• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, QA, UX, and other teams to define solutions.
• Identify technical debt and drive modernization, automation, and productivity improvements.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, observability, and production readiness.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot complex production and customer-reported issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Mentor junior engineers through design reviews, code reviews, pair programming, and technical guidance.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Architecture, QA, UX, and engineering teams to define solutions and execution strategies.
• Identify technical debt and drive modernisation, automation, and developer-productivity improvements.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, operational readiness, observability, and production support for critical services.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for APIs, services, architecture, and key design decisions.
• Support Agile delivery using Jira and Git-based source code management using Bitbucket.

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
