Job summary

RELX INC in Mumbai is seeking a senior software engineer to contribute to the design, development, and improvement of our software products. You will work across multiple systems, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to translate user needs into robust technical solutions.

You will mentor teammates and help shape engineering best practices. You will lead or participate in backend design, implement complex services, review code, and drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced Agile

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant software development experience
• Leadership experience is a plus
• Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and cloud technologies
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and data modeling
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies
• Excellent written and verbal communication

Responsibilities

About the Role

In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and improvement of software products. Yo u’ll w ork across multiple systems, collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams, and turn user needs into practical technical solutions. Yo u’ll a lso support and mentor team members and help shape engineering best practices.

Responsibilities:

• Co llaborate with technical teams to clarify and finalize requirements

• Design and develop comp lex backend components and services

• Review code, contribute to design documents, and ensure high technical quality

• Resolve technical issues and support continuous improvement

• Work across different development environments (e.g., Agile)

• Research new technologies and bring ideas to improve the product

• Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing . Contribute to data modeling and architecture discussions

• Perform debugging and implement fixes for complex issues Participate in collaborative problem-solving and cross-team communication

• Take on other related tasks as needed to support the team and product

Requirements:

• 10+ years of relevance experience and good to have lead experience

• Familiarity with Agile or other software development methodologies

• Strong skills in Java , Spring Boot , microservices , and cloud technologies (AWS or Azure)

• Understanding of distributed systems , data modeling, and various storage solutions

• Experience with test-driven development , debugging, and designing system components

• Ability to learn and adapt to new tools, frameworks, and technologies

• Clear written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work effectively with teammates and stakeholders from different disciplines
