Job summary

NatWest Group in Bengaluru, India is seeking a Software Engineer at AVP level to engineer and maintain customer-centric, high-performance software solutions. You’ll work in a feature team, collaborating with engineers, architects and business analysts across the platform to deliver robust enterprise applications.

You’ll bring eight plus years of Java, Spring Boot and microservices experience, design scalable systems, and drive cloud-native initiatives using GCP, Kubernetes, CI/CD and DevOps

What you'll do

In your new role, you’ll engineer and maintain innovative, customer centric, high performance, secure and robust solutions. You’ll be working within a feature team and using your extensive experience to engineer software, scripts and tools that are often complex, as well as liaising with other engineers, architects and business analysts across the platform.

You’ll also be:

• Producing complex and critical software rapidly and of high quality which adds value to the business
• Working in permanent teams who are responsible for the full life cycle, from initial development, through enhancement and maintenance to replacement or decommissioning
• Collaborating to optimise our software engineering capability
• Designing, producing, testing and implementing our working code
• Working across the life cycle, from requirements analysis and design, through coding to testing, deployment and operations

The skills you’ll need

You’ll need a background in software engineering, software design, architecture, and an understanding of how your area of expertise supports our customers.

You’ll also need:

• Experience of working with development and testing tools, bug tracking tools and wikis
• Eight plus years of experience in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and enterprise application development within complex, large-scale environments
• Proven expertise in designing scalable, resilient, and high-performance applications, with a track record of solving complex business and engineering challenges
• Hands‑on experience with GCP, Kubernetes, cloud-native architectures, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and modernization of legacy enterprise platforms
• Strong experience working with Sybase and PostgreSQL databases, distributed caching technologies such as Oracle Coherence, and performance optimization of data-intensive applications
• Self-driven problem solver with strong ownership and analytical skills, capable of navigating ambiguity and delivering robust, scalable, and maintainable enterprise solutions
