Job summary

Celonis is seeking a talented Software Backend Engineer with expertise in Java (Spring Boot, Hibernate) who can adapt and learn new languages as required by business needs. You will take ownership of the full on-premises product lifecycle, support migration to the cloud, and continually improve system reliability and security.

Ideal candidates have 3–6 years of hands-on software engineering experience, strong problem solving skills, and experience with distributed microservices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with Java, Spring, and Hibernate.
• Experience with microservices-based distributed systems.
• Exposure to enterprise challenges like security, compliance, scalability and data consistency.

Responsibilities

• Taking ownership of the full on-premises product lifecycle: investigating, implementing, building, and delivering to customers.
• Support and maintain project stability and security, update dependencies, implement new standards and protocols.
• Increase the reliability of our software continuously.
• Support on-premises customers in migrating to Celonis Platform cloud.
• Improving and automating development processes.
• Set an example for and mentor teammates and grow engineering culture.

The Team:

Our team is responsible for improving and supporting our major on-premise Process Mining application and providing a smooth migration and transition path to our Celonis Platform SaaS solution.

The Role:

We are seeking a talented Software Backend Engineer with expertise in Java (Spring Boot, Hibernate) who is adaptable and eager to learn new programming languages as required by business needs.

The work you’ll do:

• Taking ownership of the full on-premises product lifecycle: investigating, implementing, building, and delivering to customers.
• Support and maintain the project stability and security, update dependencies, implement new standards and protocols.
• Increase the reliability of our software continuously.
• Support on-premises customers in their path to migrating to the modern cloud-based Celonis Platform.
• Improving & automating our development processes.
• Set an example for and mentor, and grow your teammates.
• Helping define a fun and inclusive engineering culture.

The qualifications you need:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 3-6 years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Hands on experience in Java, Spring, Hibernate frameworks.
• Exposure to geographically distributed work environments.
• Ability to navigate typical enterprise challenges such as security, compliance, scalability, and data consistency.
• Exhibit excellent programming skills and a strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Experience working on microservices-based distributed systems.
• Have an analytical mind and a good understanding of complex data structures and algorithms in data management.
• Have a curiosity about how things work and a desire to improve them.

Highly desired:

• Experience with AI-powered IDEs, code generation tools.
• Experience in Windows and Linux OS management, knowing standard tools, commands, services, and permissions management, debugging and profiling tools, reading application and system logs.
