Srmap seeks a Backend Intern in Bengaluru to design, build, and maintain backend services and REST APIs using Python (Django/FastAPI). You will optimize PostgreSQL queries, leverage Redis for caching, and collaborate with frontend and QA teams to ship end-to-end features.

The role emphasizes clean, tested code, documentation, and performance tuning. Ideal candidates are final-year B.Tech/B.E./Dual Degree students from IIT/NIT/IIIT with strong coding ability, familiarity with Git workflows,

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and REST APIs using Python (Django/FastAPI)
• Write efficient queries and manage data models in PostgreSQL
• Work with Redis for caching, queues, and improving service performance
• Collaborate with frontend and QA engineers to ship end-to-end features
• Write clean, tested, well-documented code and participate in code reviews
• Debug and optimize existing services for performance and scale
• Work with large datasets related to blockchain transactions (exposure to tools like ClickHouse is a plus)

About You

The company is looking for candidates with:

• Strong fundamentals in Python and object-oriented programming
• Understanding of Django/FastAPI or any Python web framework
• Working knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) including schema design, indexing, and query optimization
• Basic understanding of caching concepts and tools like Redis
• Understanding of REST API design principles
• Strong problem-solving and data structures & algorithms fundamentals (arrays, trees, graphs, hashing)
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative version control workflows
• Exposure to Docker/containers is good to have
• Familiarity with message queues (Celery, Kafka, RabbitMQ) is a plus
• Personal projects, open-source contributions, or competitive programming profile are valued
• Curiosity about blockchain/crypto; no prior crypto knowledge required
• Exposure to AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor) is beneficial

Eligibility criteria include:

• Final year (graduating 2027) B.Tech/B.E./Dual Degree students
• From IIT, NIT, or IIIT only
• Majoring in CSE, IT, or closely related computer science branches
• Strong academic record and demonstrated coding ability via projects, competitive programming, or coursework
• Preference given to candidates with open-source contributions, external/personal projects beyond academics, and prior internship experience
