Job summary

OpenGov is a leader in AI and ERP solutions for local and state governments, powering efficiency and transparency across 2,000+ communities. As a Software Engineer III in Pune, you will build best-in-class SaaS solutions and lead new features in a fast-paced, agile team using ReactJS, Typescript, GraphQL, and NodeJS.

You will collaborate with product and engineering to deliver scalable, secure features, mentor juniors, and stay ahead with emerging technologies, contributing to OpenGov’s culture

Qualifications

• 6-9 years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, ReactJS, and NodeJS is required.
• Experience building AI-driven UX, agents, and workflow automation.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate across the organization to translate business priorities into shipped features delivering customer success.
• Generate clean, efficient, and well-documented software following industry best practices.
• Independently design and develop high-quality features that are scalable, secure, and maintainable.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex technical issues.
• Drive continuous improvement of development processes, tools and operational excellence.
• Mentor and guide junior software engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, advocating for their adoption where appropriate.
• Contribute to OpenGov’s Engineering culture of innovation, leading-edge technology adoption and quality

As a Software Engineer III at OpenGov, you’ll build best-in-class SaaS solutions that

enable efficiency, transparency, and accountability within government agencies. As

a crucial member of our engineering team, you’ll lead and deliver new features and

improvements in a fast-paced, agile environment, utilizing modern technologies

such as ReactJS, Typescript, GraphQL, and NodeJS.

Requirements and Preferred Experience

• Thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth, ambiguous environment

• Demonstrated experience in working with customers to improve product experiences

• Experience working across the stack (frontend + backend) and comfort shipping features end-to-end

• Experience building with AI-driven UX, agents, and workflow automation

• (direct ML experience not required)

• BA/BS in a computer-science-related discipline or equivalent experience

• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, ReactJS, and NodeJS is required

• Good to have effect (Typescript framework), Drizzle (ORM)

• Good to have knowledge of Kafka along with RDBMS preferably PostgreSQL.

• Proficiency in data structures, database concepts and algorithms is required

• Proficiency in observability concepts is required.

• Proficiency in GraphQL APIs is required.

• Experience in building software using event-driven architecture is highly desirable
