Job Description

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking, you will be a seasoned member of an agile team, tasked with designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, stable, and scalable cloud infrastructure and DevOps solutions. Your role involves delivering critical technology capabilities across various technical areas, supporting the firm's business objectives through innovative cloud and automation practices.

Job Responsibilities

• Executes cloud infrastructure solutions, automation, and technical troubleshooting, with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build robust, scalable systems or break down complex technical problems.
• Designs, implements, and maintains secure, high-quality cloud environments and DevOps pipelines, ensuring production systems are reliable and performant.
• Produces architecture and design artifacts for cloud-based applications and infrastructure, while being accountable for ensuring design constraints and best practices are met throughout the development lifecycle.
• Gather, analyses, and synthesises operational data from diverse cloud and application sources, developing visualisations and reporting to drive continuous improvement of infrastructure and deployment processes.
• Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in cloud operations and system data, using these insights to drive improvements in automation, security, and system architecture.
• Contributes to engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging cloud and DevOps technologies.
• Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
• Hands‑on experience in DevOps, AWS cloud infrastructure, or related roles
• Practical experience in designing, deploying, testing, and maintaining cloud infrastructure and operational environments
• Proficient in scripting or programming languages commonly used in DevOps (such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell)
• Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining automation scripts and infrastructure code in a large corporate environment
• Solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and practices (e.g., Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Chef)
• Overall knowledge of cloud service lifecycle management, including provisioning, monitoring, and scaling
• Strong grasp of agile methodologies, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security best practices
• Demonstrated expertise in cloud platforms and technical processes within disciplines such as cloud computing, automation, and infrastructure management

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

• Exposure to cloud technologies; preferred AWS (such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
• Experience with containerisation and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, ECS)
• AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or Solutions Architect)
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Grafana, Dynatrace, OpenSearch)
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills
