Job summary

RELX is hiring a Senior Software Engineer – Java to design, develop, and maintain scalable software used by global customers. You will collaborate across teams, contribute to architecture discussions, and mentor peers while delivering high-quality services and cloud-native deployments.

The role emphasizes Java 8+, Spring ecosystem, RESTful APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and a mix of on-premises and Azure deployments in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong Java 8+ with exposure to newer Java versions preferred.
• Hands-on with Spring, REST APIs, microservices, and Hibernate/JPA.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and cloud deployments (Azure).
• Proficient in building CI/CD pipelines (Git, GitHub Actions).
• Knowledge of Kafka, MySQL, and testing with JUnit/Mockito.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers, product partners, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable applications and services.
• Contribute to technical specifications, architecture discussions, and software design decisions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues and software defects.
• Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices, quality standards, and secure coding principles.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering, application development, or a related technical field.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science , Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java 8 with exposure to Java 11 and/or Java 21 preferred.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Microservices, Hibernate, and JPA .
• Strong understanding and development experience with RESTful APIs and web services .
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm , and cloud-native deployments, preferably in Azure environments.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Git, GitHub Actions , or similar automation tools.
• Knowledge of Kafka/Event Hub , MySQL , application performance optimization, and testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito .
