Job summary

Smithsgroup2 is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain software for Bare Metal and Linux targets using C, C++, Python and Linux tools.

The role requires 2-4 years of hands-on coding across embedded stacks, strong English communication, and collaboration in Agile teams. Office presence 4 days per week is required, with a flexible benefits program and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of professional software development experience with hands-on coding across embedded stacks.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Experience developing for Bare Metal and Linux embedded targets.
• Understanding of cybersecurity compliance and security scan tools is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills in English, with ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Job Purpose:

To design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software solutions using C, C++, Python, and Linux, ensuring compliance with secure coding practices and quality standards. The role supports Bare Metal and Linux environments, contributes to Agile development processes, and collaborates across cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure applications.

As per company policy, this role requires presence in the office 4 days per week.

Duties:

• Support the design, development, testing, debugging, and maintenance of embedded software applications.


• Follow established software development processes, coding standards, and quality practices.


• Apply object-oriented software development principles in feature implementation and maintenance activities.


• Contribute to test-driven software development and software verification activities.


• Develop and maintain software for Bare Metal and Linux-based embedded target environment


• Utilize C, C++, Python, and Linux tools to implement and support software solutions.


• Support cybersecurity compliance activities, including the use of security scan tools and remediation of identified issues.


• Participate in project planning, effort estimation, and task execution under the guidance of senior team members.


• Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and support project deliverables.


• Document software designs, test results, and implementation details in accordance with project requirements.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.


• 2-4 years of professional software development experience with hands‑on coding across multiple technology stacks, including embedded software.

Technical Expertise:

• Experience in following formal Software development processes

• Solid C, C++, Python and Linux experience
