Job summary

Bose Professional is seeking a Software Development Intern, Embedded to join our team in Mangalore, India. You will work on embedded Linux bring-up, STM32 firmware, and DSP/board bring-up across professional audio devices, collaborating closely with hardware and software teams.

The role offers hands-on experience with Yocto, Linux, and firmware development, along with testing responsibilities and edge-case verification to improve product reliability.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering or related field.
• Strong understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, or DSP fundamentals.
• Experience with C/C++ programming and basic firmware or low-level driver development.
• Familiarity with Yocto Project, Linux build systems, or STM32 development is a plus.
• Familiarity with UART, I2C, SPI, and networking protocols is a plus.
• Open-Source Linux projects or controller firmware development is a plus.
• Analytical, proactive and able to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Work on Embedded Linux development using Yocto, including kernel and user space integration.
• Perform STM32 firmware development including board bring up and GUI development.
• Evaluate custom boards, perform bring-up and peripheral debugging.
• Write unit tests for peripherals and demonstrate functionality.
• Integrate open-source tools/libraries into Yocto build system.
• Assist in device setup and configuration for system verification.
• Support applications team in testing and field evaluation.
• Collaborate with hardware team on amplifier, DSP, and controller board bring-up.
• Support company objectives by completing additional tasks as needed.

Position Overview:

The Embedded Intern will work on development and validation activities across DSP, amplifiers, and embedded Linux-based, STM32 systems. This role offers hands-on experience on Linux bring-up, Embedded systems, firmware development (mostly on STM32) for professional audio devices. The intern will collaborate closely with both hardware and software teams to accelerate product feature development, improve system reliability, and enhance network-based update mechanisms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work on Embedded Linux development using the Yocto Project, including kernel and user space integration, build optimization, and application packaging. Also, work on STM32 based firmware development including board bring up, GUI development.
• Work on custom board evaluation, broad bring-up and debugging of peripherals
• Write unit tests for the peripherals and demonstrate the working of them.
• Integrate open-source tools/libraries into Yocto build system
• Assist in device setup and configuration for system verification to identify edge cases in module development
• Support the applications team in preparing and validating devices for testing and field evaluation.
• Collaborate with the hardware team on amplifier, DSP, and controller board bring-up, debugging, and performance analysis.
• Support Company objectives by completing additional tasks as needed

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, or DSP fundamentals.
• Experience with C/C++ programming and basic knowledge of firmware or low-level driver development.
• Familiarity with Yocto Project, Linux build systems, or STM32 development is a plus.
• Familiarity with UART, I2C, SPI, and networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP) is a plus.
• Contribution to Open-Source Linux based projects/ Controller firmware development is a plus.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a proactive attitude.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
