Job summary

Akamai Technologies is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test to design, implement, and maintain automated testing for next-generation API-based security solutions. You will own test execution, collaborate with agile teams, and drive automation across the release cycle.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of experience, strong Python/GoLang and shell scripting skills, Linux proficiency, and solid knowledge of networking, REST APIs, databases, SQL, and CI/CD tools.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant experience in software testing or SDET.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Experience automating tests using Python/GoLang and shell scripting.
• Comfortable in Linux/Unix environments.
• Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS).
• Experience with REST APIs, databases and SQL.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and automation frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain automated testing frameworks for API-based security products.
• Own test execution and automation efforts; select and integrate testing tools.
• Collaborate with engineering in an Agile environment on code, design, and tests.
• Improve release testing processes and product reliability.
• Coordinate and participate in customer installs and demos.

The purpose of the Software Development Engineer in Test role is to design, implement, and maintain automated testing frameworks. This position ensures software quality by identifying issues, improving test coverage, and collaborating with teams to enhance product reliability and performance. The role supports continuous improvement in testing processes, contributing to the delivery of high-quality software solutions.

As a Software Development Engineer in Test, you will be responsible for:

• Building test strategy and automation for products of Next generation API Based Security and threat protection solutions
• Taking ownership for test execution, test automation, identify and bring in tools to assist the testing goal
• Collaborating with engineering teams in an Agile environment on code, design, test plan and automation framework review
• Working closely with development team to enhance new releases, testing process
• Coordinating and participating in customer installs, demos to team
