Job summary

Botsync, Asia’s leading robotics solutions provider, is hiring a senior backend engineer for the Integrator team. You will design, build, and maintain backend services that connect syncOS to PLCs, WMS/WES, ERPs, and other floor systems, ensuring reliable data contracts and scalable orchestration.

You will work with the Integrator module lead and DevOps to ship updates to live customer environments, advocate for well-tested code, and mentor junior engineers as the team grows in a fast-moving

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience, ideally with external services or hardware.
• Strong fundamentals in at least one backend language (Python) and data modeling.
• Experience building or consuming REST/gRPC APIs, and data contracts between services.
• Exposure to integrating with ERP/WMS/WES, PLCs, or industrial interfaces is a plus.
• Bias toward testable, maintainable code over quick fixes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Integrator services, end to end - You design, build, and maintain the backend services that power the Integrator module - the layer that connects syncOS to PLCs, WMS/WES, ERPs, and other customer floor systems.

• API and interface reliability - You own the correctness and stability of the APIs and data contracts between the Integrator and the rest of syncOS (fleet manager, dashboard, platform core), so downstream teams can build against a contract that holds.

• Orchestration logic at scale – You build and improve the core orchestrator responsible to coordinate between shop floor hardware

• Code quality and testability - You write tested, reviewed, production-grade backend code and leave the Integrator codebase more maintainable than you found it.

• Debugging and root cause - When an integration breaks in the field, you can trace it from a customer-site symptom back to the backend code, and fix it at the root, not with a patch.

• Collaboration across the stack - You work closely with the Integrator module lead, and DevOps to ship changes safely into live customer environments.

You will partner closely with:

• Integrator module lead: on what to build next and how it fits the platform roadmap - they set priorities, you own the implementation.
• Quality: who independently test and certify releases - you build to the bar, they verify it.
• DevOps: on shipping backend changes to customer sites safely - you write the code, they run the release process, you support it if something breaks.

WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE FOR THIS ROLE

3 months:

• Comfortable navigating the Integrator codebase and its data models end to end
• Actively picking up and closing bugs and tickets in the Integrator area without heavy hand-holding
• Working directly on improving orchestration logics/outcomes

6 months:

• Owning a defined slice of the Integrator backend with minimal oversight
• Contributing reusable integration logic to the shared catalog, not just one-off customer fixes
• Debugging field issues in the Integrator module end to end, from customer-site symptom to root cause

12 months:

• A recognized go-to backend engineer for the Integrator

• Your integration logic runs reliably across multiple customer sites with minimal field escalations

• Mentoring newer engineers joining the Integrator team

• Ready to take on ownership of a larger slice of the Integrator backend as the team grows

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience, ideally on systems that talk to external services or hardware.

• Strong fundamentals in at least one backend language/stack (e.g. Python) and relational/non-relational data modeling.

• Experience building or consuming REST/gRPC APIs, and comfort reasoning about data contracts between services.

• Some exposure to integrating with external or industrial systems (ERPs, WMS/WES, PLCs, or any hardware/software interface) is a strong plus, not a requirement.

• Comfort debugging issues that span multiple services or environments, including code you did not originally write.

• A bias toward writing testable, maintainable code over quick one-off fixes.
