Job summary

Nokia is seeking SW engineers to join IP Routing SW to design and implement high-performance datapath software for core networks, data centers and service providers.

You will work on IP/MPLS/Segment Routing, VXLANs, DPDK, and QoS features while collaborating with a world-class team to deliver robust, modular code in a Linux environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
  • Proven experience in packet forwarding technologies (IP, MPLS, Segment Routing, VXLANs).
  • Experience with QoS technologies (Policers, Schedulers, ACLs) and TCAM management.
  • Hands-on experience with DPDK for high-performance packet processing.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming for networking solutions.
  • Contributions to SONiC or other open-source networking projects desirable.
  • Experience in virtualized Linux environments (KVM, Docker).
  • Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement datapath solutions on custom and merchant silicon.
  • Develop high-performance packet forwarding for IP/MPLS/Segment Routing/VXLANs.
  • Implement QoS features (Policers, Schedulers, ACLs) and TCAM management; handle packet extraction to CPU.
  • Write modular, well-tested code meeting high network standards.
  • Collaborate with product management and testers to deliver robust solutions.
  • Work in virtualized Linux environments (KVM, Docker).

We are looking for SW engineers who wish to be a part of developing and evolving the current and next generation of routers that form the core of anything internet. These routers are at the heart of Nokia's IP product offerings, from data centers (including AI fabrics) to providing strong, resilient low latency and dependable IP backhaul for service providers and mission critical networks. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with one of the best engineering teams in the industry. You will play a critical role in designing and implementing high-performance data path solutions on both custom and merchant silicon. You will be responsible for writing efficient and modular code that is well-tested and robust, ensuring that it meets the high standards required for the most critical networks. Your role will involve working on advanced packet forwarding techniques in IP, MPLS, Segment Routing, VxLANs. You will also contribute into Traffic Management technologies - QoS (Policers, Schedulers, Shapers), ACLs, TCAM Management, and Packet Extractions to CPU. DCN2026.

How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn
  • Design and implementation: You will gain deep expertise in designing and implementing datapath solutions on both custom and merchant silicon.
  • Advanced packet forwarding: Develop your skills in IP, MPLS, Segment Routing, VXLANs, and QoS technologies such as Policers, Schedulers, and ACLs. DPDK and performance optimization: You'll be working with DPDK and similar technologies to maximize performance for high-throughput systems.
  • Virtualized environments: Expand your knowledge in working with virtualized Linux environments such as KVM and Dockers.
  • Team collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management and software testers, to deliver customer-driven solutions.
  • Robust and modular code: Focus on writing modular, maintainable code that is well unit-tested, improving your coding skills and best practices.
Key Skills And Experience
  • Bachelor's degree with 3-10 years of Experience.
  • Proven experience in packet forwarding technologies (IP, MPLS, Segment Routing, VXLANs).
  • Experience with QoS technologies (Policers, Schedulers, ACLs) and TCAM management.
  • Hands‑on experience with DPDK for high‑performance packet processing.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming, with a focus on networking solutions.
  • Contributions to SONiC or other open-source networking projects (desirable).
  • Methodical problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience working in virtualized Linux environments (e.g., KVM, Docker, etc.).
