Job summary

Daimler Truck Innovation Center India (DTICI) in Bengaluru is seeking a senior automotive software engineer to lead BCM/ECU development across passenger cars and trucks. You will define system architecture, drive cyber security and functional safety concepts, and mentor a team of 8–10 engineers while coordinating cross-functional activities.

The role requires deep embedded C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink proficiency, SDV experience, and strong automotive domain knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in E&C, CS, or related field.
• 10–15 years of automotive application development experience.
• 5+ years of work experience with Simulink.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of Body Control ECU solutions for passenger cars, trucks, and buses.
• Lead the team in technical and leadership forums and derive SW architecture for complex features.
• Design and implement cyber security and functional safety concepts.
• Conduct code reviews and architecture walkthroughs; develop complex device drivers.
• Analyse field issues, identify root causes, and coordinate corrective actions.
• Lead and mentor a team of 8–10 application software developers; drive innovation.
• Support supervisor in budget planning, hiring, onboarding, and talent development.
• Lead project management activities including task planning and risk management.

What you can Expect:

Key technical skills expected:

• Deeper knowledge about BCM features like Lighting Systems, Security and Access, Comfort Convenience, Wipers, Washers, Climate Control, Chassis level control, Tire Pressure Monitoring system, Trailer interface functions and DOOR control modules
• Hands-on experience in Body Control Module (BCM) and associated control systems within automotive domains
• Define system architecture, functional decomposition, and ECU interfaces aligned with vehicle-level requirements.
• Working experience with Software Defined Vehicle (SDV)
• Hands on experience with AI technology (AI stack, AI Agent development, MCP, RAG concepts)
• Proficient in MATLAB for model-based design, analysis and simulation
• Well versed with tool chains around Model based application software
• Solid background in Embedded C/C++ for developing software components
• Strong Automotive domain knowledge, including communication protocols, diagnostics, and feature implementation.
• Effective Stakeholder Management skills, collaborating with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and project leads.
• Experience or certification in SAFe agile process will be a value add
