Job summary

TP in Chennai, India is seeking a Software Development Engineer (High Tech) to work on multiple software types including end-user applications and operating systems/utility software that power platforms for external customers.

The role emphasizes requirements analysis, coding, testing support, and applying best practices, with opportunities to lead and coordinate teams on complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Conducting requirements gathering and analysis to understand the domain of the software problem and interfaces between hardware and software.
• Using programming, scripting, and/or database languages to write the software code.
• Supporting software testing, deployment, maintenance, and evolution activities by correcting programming errors, responding to scope changes, and coding software enhancements.
• Applying knowledge of software development best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Positions on this level have advanced knowledge and experience and participates in/leads the development of new solutions/projects and may supervise and coordinate lower-level specialists.
• Coordinates the daily operations, enables and oversees the implementation of short to medium term activities within the team, delivering input to policies, processes and standards within a defined scope; manages a mixed team of Specialist and Support jobs with full lifecycle responsibility.

Software Development Engineering (High Tech) focus on developing multiple types/categories of software including end-user applications and operating systems/utility software, that provides a platform for running end user applications for sale to external customers.

• Conducting requirements gathering and analysis to understand the domain of the software problem and/or functionality, the interfaces between hardware and software, and the overall software characteristics


• Using programming, scripting, and/or database languages to write the software code


• Supporting software testing, deployment, maintenance, and evolution activities by correcting programming errors, responding to scope changes, and coding software enhancements


• Applying knowledge of software development best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations


• Positions on this level have advanced knowledge and experience and participates in/leads the development of new solutions/projects. Shares best practice and advice to the co-workers in the professional area. Not only generates own workload but outlines directions to others. Can supervise and coordinate lower-level specialists being single point of contact in complex matters.


• Coordinates the daily operations, enables and oversees the implementation of short to medium term activities within the team. Delivers input to policies, processes and standards, where decisions are of tactical and operational nature within a defined scope. Manages a mixed team of Specialist and Support jobs., with full employee lifecycle responsibility.
