Persistent Systems in Pune is seeking an experienced Software Architect to lead the design and development of advanced medical imaging and visualization solutions. You will define architecture for C++/Qt-based applications, drive best practices, and mentor cross-functional teams across Product Management, R&D, QA, and Engineering.

The role requires hands-on expertise with MITK, VTK, OpenGL, and Linux, delivering scalable, secure systems.

Qualifications

About Position

We are seeking an experienced Software Architect to lead the design and development of advanced medical imaging and visualization solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in C++, Qt, OpenGL, MITK, VTK, and Linux-based application development, along with a proven track record of architecting scalable, secure, and high-performance software systems. In this role, you will be responsible for defining technical architecture, driving engineering best practices, mentoring development teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of enterprise-grade medical imaging applications. You will work closely with Product Management, R&D, UX, QA, and Engineering teams to build innovative solutions that support clinical workflows and healthcare outcomes.

What You'll Do

• Define and drive software architecture for C++ and Qt-based medical imaging applications.
• Design scalable, modular, secure, and high-performance software systems.
• Architect solutions integrating MITK, VTK, OpenGL, and Linux platforms.
• Create and maintain High-Level Designs (HLDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs), and architecture documentation.
• Lead technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and code quality assessments.
• Collaborate with Product Management, R&D, QA, UX, and Engineering teams to align technical solutions with business objectives.
• Guide development teams on software design principles, coding standards, and engineering best practices.
• Evaluate architectural risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
• Drive performance optimization, scalability improvements, and system reliability initiatives.
• Contribute to product roadmaps, technology strategy, and long-term platform evolution.
• Mentor developers and technical leads while promoting engineering excellence.
• Review software designs and provide technical leadership across projects.
• Ensure technical documentation remains accurate, comprehensive, and up to date.
• Support DevOps adoption, CI/CD implementation, and engineering automation initiatives.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption where appropriate.

Expertise You'll Bring

• 8?12 years of experience in Software Development, Technical Leadership, System Design, or Architecture roles.
• Strong expertise in modern C++ development and object-oriented design principles.
• Deep hands-on experience with the Qt Framework, including GUI development, Signals and Slots, Multithreading, and Custom Widgets.
• Experience working with MITK (Medical Imaging Interaction Toolkit).
• Strong expertise in VTK (Visualization Toolkit) for visualization and imaging applications.
• Hands-on experience with OpenGL and advanced graphics rendering techniques.
• Strong Linux development, deployment, and troubleshooting experience.
• Solid understanding of Software Architecture principles and large-scale application design.
• Experience architecting scalable, maintainable, and high-performance software systems.
• Strong knowledge of design patterns, software engineering best practices, and performance optimization techniques.
• Experience with debugging, profiling, performance analysis, and troubleshooting complex systems.
• Proficiency with Git and modern software configuration management practices.
• Experience working in Agile and Scrum-based development environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
