Job summary

Siemens Healthineers AG in Bengaluru seeks a Software Architect to shape the MR scanner software architecture, covering scanning, image acquisition, reconstruction and distribution. You will drive architecture decisions, define interfaces, and mentor developers to deliver scalable, high-quality software aligned with healthcare imaging goals.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on software design and development experience, including architect role.
• Proficiency in C++, guiding design decisions and implementation support.
• Experience designing systems with IPC and relevant patterns, concurrency, failure handling.
• Python experience is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of OO analysis/design, software architecture principles, and UML; UML tools.

Responsibilities

• Drive and guide the specification and implementation of a Software architecture for a whole product or a subsystem across domain and technical aspects.
• Conceptualize, design and develop whole product or sub-system.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit functional and non-functional requirements, aligning with business needs.
• Provide maturity, vision, and domain depth to identify and resolve issues with incomplete information.
• Coach and motivate developers across the project lifecycle for architecture quality and evolution.
• Involve stakeholders in decision-making.
• Validate technology roadmaps, perform technology evaluation, and drive make/buy decisions.
• Define external software interfaces and validate requirements, providing feasibility statements.
• Elaborate software architecture/design, document rationale, establish traceability, and support architecture management.
• Review detailed software design, coach development, and support critical components deployment.
• Drive architecture quality through testing, integration and defect resolution.
• Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Job Profile

• Drive and guide the specification and implementation of a Software (SW) architecture for a whole product or a subsystem over all its domain and technical aspects and ensure the sustainability of architecture vision.
• Technically conceptualize, design and develop whole product or a sub-system.
• Collaborate with different stakeholders to elaborate functional and non- functional requirements of the product and take decisions that are driven by a clear focus on the intended business and its associated requirements.
• Bring in maturity, vision, depth of domain, technical experience and the ability to identify, analyze, and decide on relevant issues in time and with courage, even in the absence of complete information.
• Coach and motivate developers over the entire lifetime of a project to enable, support, and enforce an appropriate implementation, maintenance, quality assurance, test, and evolution of the SW architecture, even in the face of challenging, changing, and evolving business cases, requirements and realization technologies.
• Involve relevant stakeholders in decision making process.
• From Business perspective, completely responsible for validating technology roadmaps, doing technology evaluation and if needed, driving make or buy decisions.
• Completely responsible for defining external software interfaces, validating software requirements and giving feasibility statement.
• From Architecting and design perspective, completely responsible for elaborating software architecture and design, design prototyping, documenting architecture and design rationale, establishing architecture traceability, identification and specification of interfaces. Shall provide support for Architecture management, monitoring of internal software quality and structural changes.
• From implementation perspective, completely responsible for reviewing detailed software design, coaching for software development and deployment. Shall provide support for implementation of any critical component.
• From testing and Quality perspective, completely responsible for driving architecture quality. Shall provide support for software integration, sequence and concept, performing tests and resolving of defects.
• Ability to effectively communicate, influence, and interact with various stakeholders.

Desired Qualification And Experience

• 10+ years of hands‑on software design and development experience, including at least 2 years in a software architect role.
• Proficiency in C++, including the ability to guide design decisions and support the team with implementation.
• Experience designing systems that use inter-process communication (IPC); familiarity with relevant communication patterns, protocols, concurrency, and failure handling.
• Python experience is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented analysis and design (OOA/OOD), software architecture principles, and UML; experience with UML modeling tools.
• Experience identifying and addressing non-functional requirements (NFRs), such as performance, reliability, security, maintainability, and scalability.
• Sound understanding of requirements engineering and software development processes.
• Experience with software estimation, planning, and scheduling.
• Familiarity with source control tools, particularly Git.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and YAML-based configuration.
• Familiarity with healthcare systems or standards is an advantage.
• Familiarity with Agile practices is an advantage.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
