Job summary

Standard Chartered is seeking a senior full-stack developer to drive the Service Bench migration, write high-quality code, and collaborate across engineering teams. You will design low-level features, review peers, and ensure timely delivery while building scalable frontend and backend components using ReactJS, TypeScript, GraphQL, Java/Kotlin, and microservices.

Agile work culture and AI-assisted delivery are encouraged.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years development experience with core design patterns.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
  • Experience with Postgres databases.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of audit domain preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop code on the Service Bench stack and peer review code.
  • Low level design to deliver epics and stories.
  • Code front-end and back-end meeting quality standards for the bank.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Lead & Developers to align on the design.
  • Write code in a publishable manner for team visibility.
  • Work with ReactJS, Typescript, GraphQL, Java/Kotlin, Quarkus, microservices.
  • Provide unit testing and load testing; ensure deadlines.
  • Apply clean design to business domains; develop POCs if needed.
  • Operate in agile teams; understand the Software Lifecycle.
  • Explore AI-assisted software delivery and frameworks with team.

Job description

SARA (Strategic Audit Risk and Assurance) is currently migrating from the Appian platform to Service Bench under the FFG initiative, with Appian decommissioning targeted for July 2025, a key milestone for cost optimisation. The programme is at a critical transition phase requiring successful decommissioning, stabilisation of the new platform, and transition into a run-and-change operating model. Post-FFG, there will be sustained demand for enhancements, regulatory changes, and platform optimisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Resource will be responsible to develop code on the service bench tech stack, peer review code development by team members and contribute to design of features.
  • Low level design to deliver epics and stories on the Service Bench tech stack
  • Code both front end and back-end code meeting the quality standards for the bank
  • Work closely with Engineering Lead & Developers to align on the
  • “Write code for others, not for yourself” – your code will be visible to others
  • Work on the following tech stack to start with - ReactJS, Typescript, GraphQL, Core Java, Hibernate, Microservices, Spring Batch, Azure Devops, Lit (HTML), Web Component
  • Simplify the business requirements and propose clean design
  • Hands-on coding, develop high quality code while meeting deadlines
  • Good design for given business domain and occasional implementation of POCs
  • Provide unit testing and load testing
  • Work in highly collaborative, fun loving team using Agile methodology
  • Good understanding of the Systems Implementation Life Cycle
  • Experiment and collaborate with team members on frameworks and AI assisted software delivery
