Job summary

ABB in Bengaluru is seeking an SME-Lease Accounting to support end-to-end lease accounting for global entities within the GA team. You will ensure accurate reporting of lease contracts and compliance with internal controls.

You will review classifications, calculations, remeasurements, and terminations, validate ROUs and lease liabilities, and manage month-end and year-end closes. This role also leads a small team, aligns with stakeholders across real estate, procurement, and legal, and drives

Qualifications

• Master's degree in accounting, finance or commerce required (MBA/MCom).
• 10–12 years of Lease Accounting and Record to Report GA experience.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS 16/ASC 842 and financial reporting.
• Experience leading teams in a shared services, GBS, or multinational environment.
• Proficient with Tririga, SAP, CFIN and CoStar systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end lease accounting processes for global entities.

Job description

You will be working as SME-Lease Accounting and will be reporting to Accounting Reporting Manager GA and will be a part of Bangalore, India. In this role you will be primarily responsible for End-to-End Lease Accounting Process as SME or team focused on the complete, accurate, and timely completion of Lease Accounting Reporting and related activities within the General Accounting (GA) team. Ensure compliance with internal guidelines and procedures as well as external regulatory requirements.

Lease Accounting Operations

• Support end-to-end lease accounting activities for global entities.
• Ensure accurate accounting and reporting of lease contracts in compliance with IFand/or ASC 842.
• Review lease classifications, calculations, remeasurements, modifications, and terminations.
• Validate right-of-use (ROU) assets and lease liability calculations.
• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end lease accounting close activities.
• Monitor lease capitalization and amortization schedules.

Financial Reporting Compliance

• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and statutory requirements.
• Prepare and review lease-related journal entries, reconciliations, and financial disclosures.
• Support internal and external audits by providing accurate documentation and explanations.
• Maintain SOX and compliance controls related to lease accounting processes.

Team Leadership

• Allocate workloads and monitor team performance against KPIs and SLAs.
• Conduct performance reviews and support employee development plans.
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with business units, real estate teams, procurement, legal, and controllers.
• Act as the primary point of contact for lease accounting matters.
• Support global finance and business stakeholders with accounting guidance.
• Manage escalations and resolve complex accounting issues.

Process Improvement Automation

• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through standardization and automation.
• Lead system enhancement projects and process transformation initiatives.
• Support implementation and optimization of lease accounting tools (CoStar, Trintech Cadency).
• Develop and maintain process documentation and SOPs.

Governance Controls

• Ensure adherence to financial controls and company policies.
• Monitor aging items, reconciliation exceptions, and control failures.
• Track and report operational metrics to management.

Required Qualifications

• A masters degree in accounting, Finance or Commerce (MBA/Mcom) is must.
• Minimum 10to 12 years of experience in Lease Accounting and Record to Report GA.
• Strong knowledge of IFASC 842, and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience leading teams in a shared service, GBS, or multinational environment.
• Strong knowledge of working in Tririga, SAP, CFIN, Costar.
