Job description

Right now, we are looking for a Site Water Manager for our Mill Services team. Site Water Manager is responsible for ensuring the uninterrupted supply, treatment, and optimization of water resources across the entire site, including external stakeholder collaboration. This role demands full autonomy in decision-making, extensive stakeholder engagement, and a proactive approach to optimizing water quality and infrastructure. The position requires expertise in managing high-value contracts, overseeing service providers, and driving innovative solutions to enhance sustainability and efficiency in water management.

Specific to this role, the day‑to‑day tasks will include the following but as we are a growing company with very little silos between teams, other tasks might be included as well:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the team through training, coaching, and clear direction while governing service partners and provider agreements.
  • Oversee WTP 1 & 2 service partnerships, including chemical supply, service contracts, lifecycle management, and O&M budget control.
  • Ensure water and wastewater quality compliance, providing advisory support to plant operations while safeguarding regulatory and contractual adherence.
  • Develop strategies for reliable raw and potable water supply, optimizing resource utilization, infrastructure reliability, and long‑term asset performance.
  • Manage and optimize the distribution pipeline network, ponds, sewers, and related systems with strong governance, risk mitigation, and proactive maintenance planning.
  • Drive performance optimization and strategic initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce chemical use and costs, enhance sustainability, and align water management with business objectives through cross‑functional collaboration.
What you’ll bring

You're curious and believe that real progress happens when we work together. You're not afraid to challenge old ways of thinking - and you treat others with respect while doing it. At Stegra, we value people who take initiative, build trust, and help create a workplace where everyone can do their best.

Specific to this role, we would like to see that you can tick off a fair amount of the boxes below:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical, chemical, industrial, or production engineering, or related field; water treatment or environmental compliance certifications are a plus.
  • Over 10 years of experience in water treatment and process engineering, including management of large‑scale operations, ideally within heavy industry.
  • Strong background in contract management, budgeting, cost optimization, and involvement in projects, startups, or commissioning activities.
  • Experience working with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards and ensuring operational compliance.
  • In‑depth technical knowledge of water treatment processes (e.g., ultrafiltration, demineralization, wastewater treatment) combined with plant performance analysis and project management skills.
  • Strong leadership and cross‑functional collaboration abilities; familiarity with Swedish labor and environmental regulations; fluent English required, with basic Swedish considered an advantage.
