Job summary

Apple IS&T invites a hands-on SRE Engineer to design, deploy and monitor scalable, secure distributed applications. You will work within the Enterprise Technology Services group to support production systems, improve performance, and automate validation across complex architectures.

The role emphasizes deep data analysis, system observability, and collaboration with engineering teams to drive measurable improvements in reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering, computer science or other technical disciplines.
• 4+ years of ITIL-based incident and problem management experience.
• Experience monitoring distributed systems using log analysis tools (e.g., Splunk).
• Hands-on Java programming and REST API debugging.
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Perl, Python, Ruby) for tooling.

Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) is part of IS&T and delivers global-scale platforms and services that keep Apple's operations secure and running. Responsibilities

• Should demonstrate a strong passion for designing , deploying and monitoring systems that are fast, efficient, and scalable at every layer. The candidate will have a deep curiosity to understand how applications behave under load, identify bottlenecks across infrastructure, databases, and code paths, and optimize them for peak performance.
• They should be comfortable analyzing complex datasets to uncover inefficiencies, and partnering with engineering teams to drive measurable improvements. A strong instinct to automate validation, visualize metrics, and translate technical insights into actionable outcomes is key to success in this role.

Minimum Qualifications

• BS in engineering, computer science or other technical disciplines.
• 4+ years of working experience in ITIL terminology for incident and problem management.
• Monitoring distributed systems application architectures in log monitoring and analysis tools (e.g. Splunk).
• Hands‑on knowledge in java programming and REST APIs for Application debugging and root cause analysis.
• Strong in at‑least one programming or scripting languages like Perl, Python, Ruby etc., for developing tools in Observability, ETL etc..
• Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong understanding of database principles and working knowledge in distributed storage and infrastructural solutions such as Oracle, Cassandra, SOLR, and Kafka.
• Good command on Linux, Networking concepts (TLS/SSL, DNS, Load Balancers, etc.,) and troubleshooting skills in large scale environments.
• Experience with container management and micro‑services architectures such as Docker in cloud and on‑premises infrastructure.
