Job summary

ZEISS Group in Bengaluru is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to own and operate applications across regional locations. You will diagnose issues with observability tools, work with databases and messaging systems, and support incident response with a strong focus on Azure-based Kubernetes workloads.

The role requires 5+ years in SRE or similar, solid Kubernetes/Azure experience, and proficiency with GitOps, CI/CD, and Terraform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of experience in an SRE role or similar.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Azure, databases, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong problem solving and proactive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Act as first-line technical owner for applications running across multiple regional locations
• Perform deep service-level diagnostics when application issues arise using observability tooling
• Work with databases and messaging bus technologies to identify service-level issues
• Support incident response, root cause analysis, and service restoration.
• Operate and support workloads running on Azure-based Kubernetes platforms
• Understand Kubernetes pod lifecycle, networking, storage, scaling, and failure scenarios
• Collaborate with platform teams on cluster-level issues and application teams on service-level issues
• Reporting new bugs/issues back to product/platform teams when the problem cannot be solved through extended diagnostics

Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.

Work Experience

A minimum of 5 years of experience in a SRE role or similar.

Strong Knowledge & hands-on experience with below key technologies:

• Containerization platforms (e.g., Kubernetes)
• Cloud platforms (e.g., Azure)
• Databases and messaging bus (MongoDB, MSSQ, pSQL, Kafka)
• Templating concepts and GitOps frameworks (i.e Helm, Kustomize)
• Version control and CI/CD systems (e.g., Git, Azure Devops, ArgoCD)
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform)

AZ-104 – Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate, CKA – Certified Kubernetes Administrator or equivalent experience

Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

Proactive attitude and high degree of independence.
