Job summary

Hitachi Energy seeks a Site Manager to lead the execution of EPC converter station projects. You will oversee on-site activities, manage contractual obligations, and ensure safety and quality standards are met while interfacing with the customer and authorities.

The role requires strong leadership, HSE focus, excellent communication, and the ability to travel across India. You will coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to achieve milestones within budget and schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering.
• 5+ years as Site Manager on energy sector construction sites.
• Experience in Civil Works, Installation and/or Commissioning.
• Sound commercial awareness, contracts management experience.
• HSE knowledge and certified understanding.
• Strong leadership, communication and customer interface.
• Willingness to travel within India; travel abroad is a plus.
• Proficiency in English, both spoken & written.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the main interface to the Customer on all contractual matters and maintain good relationships with local authorities.
• Read and interpret typical construction contracts to identify risks and opportunities.
• Manage on-site manpower and drive activities to meet milestones and targets.
• Ensure all personnel are informed about SoW and DoW.
• Oversee change management including variation orders to subcontractors.
• Warrant tests are performed and accepted per contractual conditions.
• Foster adherence to Health, Environment and Safety requirements by site personnel.
• Ensure quality records are created and archived properly.
• Ensure permits, licenses, and requirements are in place for compliant execution.
• Maintain up-to-date and reliable project documentation toward Headquarters.
• Ensure activities adhere to schedules and budgets.

Job description

The Site Manager is responsible for the successful execution of all activities on the assigned construction site, on-time, within budget, as per Contractual Scope and requirements, maintaining
the highest standard of quality of the works, ensuring an incident free construction site and complete adherence by all personnel to the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) plans and
regulations.

How you’ll make an impact:

• You act as the main interface to the Customer on all contractual matters and maintain a good relationship with local authorities and organizations.
• You are acquainted with typical construction contracts, read them and understand the relevant sections for your work and are able to identify risks and opportunities in theContracts.
• You manage manpower requirements on site and drive the site activities to achieve the contractual milestones and targets.
• You ensure that all personnel on site are well informed about the Scope of Work (SoW) and Division of Work (DoW)
• You manage change management on site, including variation orders to subcontractors.
• You warrant that all tests are performed and accepted by the customer according to contractual conditions.
• You foster a culture of proper understanding and adherence by all site personnel to the Health, Environment and Safety requirements of the business, Customer, and localauthorities.
• You ensure that all activities are done with the expected quality and that all quality records are created and properly archived.
• You ensure that all permits, licenses, and requirements are in place for a compliant execution of the site activities.
• You ensure a structured, up-to-date, and reliable documentation handling on site and towards the Headquarters.
• You guarantee that all activities performed within the defined contractual schedules and milestones, understand the project budget and ensure that costs for the siteactivities are maintained within budget.
• You ensure that contractual obligations are met and to the satisfaction of our customers.
• You are assigned as Site Manager in medium to large EPC converter station projects, complex Consortium projects, or as Deputy Site Manager in large EPC converter stationprojects.
• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering
• Experience of 5+ years working as a Site Manager on construction sites in the energy sector or similar industries, particularly in medium and large size projects.
• Sound commercial awareness, contracts management experience and business acumen
• Experience in Civil Works, Installation and/or Commissioning
• Relevant and Certified knowledge and experience in the field of HSE
• Very structured and organized, good people management skills, collaboration and team working spirit, resilient, excellent customer interface and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel within India. Willingness to travel abroad is a plus.
• Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
