Job summary

Mondelez India Foods Private Limited is seeking an experienced HSE Lead to develop and drive the site HSE strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance and world-class safety culture. You will lead annual planning, incident investigations, audits, and continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

The role requires 12–15 years in HSE within manufacturing, strong leadership, and the ability to engage with senior stakeholders to deliver Zero Harm and sustainable results.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree/Post Graduate in Engineering or Safety; NEBOSH; ISO 14001/45001 exposure.
  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills; change management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement HSE strategy and global standards at the site.

The HSE site leads role therefore requires developing an overall HSE strategy for the site and at the same time lead and provide expertise in the HSE function, managing key KPIs and deliverables at an internal manufacturing site to foster world-class performance and a strong safety culture.

This role involves developing systems and skills for implementing HSE strategies, ensuring a safe, secure, and healthy work environment within the manufacturing plant. Responsibilities include ensuring regulatory compliance and adherence to Mondelez's global HSE management systems through the creation and execution of strategic initiatives, plans, and gap assessments.

Additionally, this role offers leadership and support in HSE for both plant operations and brownfield projects and contributes to driving operational governance and management systems at the site.

How you will contribute

Below are some of the key responsibilities of the role:

Implement HSE Strategies and Global Standards

Oversee the implementation of HSE strategies and global standards, ensuring the effective execution of work processes to foster an interdependent culture. Conduct gap assessments and ensure corrective and preventive actions are addressed within specified timelines.

Develop and Execute Annual HSE Plan:

Collaborate with the site leadership team to design, implement, monitor, and update the annual site HSE plan.

Drive Continuous Improvement in HSE:

Utilize Integrated Lean Sigma principles and proactive leadership to enhance HSE performance, aiming for Zero Harm and ensuring compliance and business effectiveness. Coach, influence and reinforce positive safety behaviour for all employees and contractors at site.

Conduct OHSE Gap Assessments:

Lead internal and external gap assessments focusing on occupational health, ergonomics, personal and process safety, and environmental standards in alignment with Mondelez standards.

Manage Site Emergency Preparedness:

Oversee the Site Emergency Organization, develop tools and systems for effective emergency response, and organize mock drills to assess and improve the effectiveness of the Emergency Response Plan.

Advance Site Sustainability Goals

Create and implement strategies to achieve site sustainability objectives, addressing ESG commitments such as climate, water, waste, and social impact.

Ensure HSE Legal and Regulatory Compliance:

Guide employees on compliance matters, conduct internal audits, support external audits, and design corrective and preventive action plans. Ensure adherence to all site HSE regulatory obligations.

Investigate HSE Incidents:

Participate and facilitate in incident/accident investigation using various std tools and support the development of corrective and preventive actions. Monitor the completion of these actions within stipulated timelines.

Manage Site HSE Data:

Ensure timely updates of HSE data and oversee the governance of HSE data, KPIs and trends. Develop action plans to manage short-term and long-term HSE risks, including environmental impact assessments and job safety analysis.

Build HSE Capability:

Facilitate training and communication initiatives to enhance employees' and partners' understanding and commitment to HSE compliance, with a focus on HSE management and statutory regulations.

Promote Risk Management and Asset Conservation

Lead initiatives for risk management related to asset conservation and property loss control. Ensure timely corrective actions are taken based on third-party loss risk assessments and audits.

Design Reviews:

Lead and participate in design reviews for engineering projects to ensure that all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements, in accordance with Mondelez HSE standards, are addressed and integrated during the design phase.

Facilitates good practise sharing:

Lead initiatives to share good practises within Mondelez and Peer industries to build world class HSE compliant infrastructure and practises.

Managing Costs:

Develop, budget, and oversee the annual capital and operational expenditures for HSE to support the execution of the HSE plan and ensure compliance with all internal and external standards.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Bachelor's Degree/Post Graduate degree in Engineering/safety, Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety (Eg: RLI), NEBOSH, Exposure in management systems such as ISO 14001; ISO 45001.
  • 12-15 years of HSE domain experience with proven experience in a manufacturing environment with at least 3-4 years heading the HSE function at a large/medium manufacturing organization.
  • A people manager with Solid business acumen – understanding the business context.
  • Strong organizational, good communication, interpersonal and influencing skills along with change Management skills.
  • Proven track record of delivery in a dynamic working environment with an additional appreciation of different cultures.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and process design skills, ability to communicate effectively to senior stakeholders.
Internal Stake holders:
  • HSE Lead- India BU, Plant Leadership Team, Cross functional teams, Standard Owners, HSE Leads (Other internal sites), Site employees etc.
External Stake holders:
  • Vendors and Contractors, Regulatory and Statutory bodies, Third party inspectors and Auditors etc
