Job summary

Compton is seeking a frontend/full-stack developer to work on Shopify-based storefronts and headless projects. You will implement themes using HTML/CSS/JS, leverage Liquid templates, and apply Tailwind utilities.

The role also involves integrating Next.js for non-Shopify or headless deployments while ensuring responsive, accessible UIs. The ideal candidate is proficient with Shopify APIs, Functions, and Checkout Extensibility, and collaborates with design tools like Figma.

Job description

Frontend Development

• Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Experience with Shopify Liquid templating language and theme architecture
• Tailwind CSS for utility-first styling
• Next.js for headless/non-Shopify projects
• Understanding of responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and web accessibilitystandards (WCAG 2.1+)Backend

Full-Stack Development

• Experience with Shopify Functions (discounts, payment/delivery customizations)
• Experience with Checkout Extensibility (UI extensions, post-purchase)
• Working knowledge of Shopify's GraphQL Admin and Storefront APIs
• Comfortable with REST and GraphQL patterns in general

Shopify Platform Knowledge

Solid understanding of Shopify as a platform stores, themes, apps, and themerchant experience

• Metafields and Metaobjects for custom data modeling
• Shopify Flow for automation workflows
• Familiarity with the Shopify Partner ecosystem and development workflow(Shopify CLI, dev stores)

Analytics & Tracking

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) setup, event tracking, and ecommerce data layerconfiguration

• Google Tag Manager (GTM) implementation and container management
• Understanding of conversion tracking and attribution in a Shopify context
• Familiarity with customer data privacy regulations and cookie consentsolutions (e.g., cookie banners, consent mode)

Tools & Collaboration

Git / GitHub for version control, branching strategies, and code review

• Figma for design handoff and translating designs to code

AI & Productivity

Comfortable using AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor) to accelerate developmentworkflows, debugging, and problem-solving

• Ability to write effective prompts and critically evaluate AI-generated output
• Openness to integrating AI into day-to-day tasks to increase efficiencywithout sacrificing code quality
