Job summary

ZF is seeking a Service Engineer in Marine technology based in Mumbai, India. The role involves overhauling ZF Thrusters and Gearboxes, and performing troubleshooting and commissioning at customer locations.

About the team:

Marine Special Driveline Technology Business Unit focuses on innovative products in a wide variety for Off-Road applications. With around 15 locations, we deliver best in class solutions for our customers for Special Vehicle Systems, Rail Drive Systems, Commercial and Fast Craft, Pleasure Craft and MicroMobility.

What you can look forward to as Service Engineer- Marine:

• Carrying out overhauling of ZF Thrusters and Gearboxes at customer locations (Yards / Workshop) as required. Submission of technical reports in accordance with ZF guidelines and Standards.
• Perform inspection and troubleshooting activities at site locations to diagnose problems, determine appropriate resolution, and implement corrective action.
• Perform installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities at customer site locations. Must be capable of working unsupervised and leading small teams.
• Under the direction of Service Manager, perform a wide range of engineering tasks to ensure the technical integrity and proper installation and commissioning of ZF Marine propulsion system and its controls.
• Provides training and instruction to customers on system operations. Promote sales of maintenance services.
• Perform other related engineering tasks to facilitate proper commissioning and customer satisfaction. Provide continuous, 24 hours, 7 day a week, support in response to customer calls for service.
• Ensure appropriate response and service is provided to customer.

Your Profile as Service Engineer- Marine:

• Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited university or college.
• Minimum 4-5 years of field service and commissioning experience.
• In total experience at least 3 years experience in maintenance / overhauling of azimuth thrusters / tunnel thrusters would be preferred.
• Basic understanding of ships propulsion controls and its functioning.
• Basic troubleshooting skills in electrical systems would be an added advantage.
• Basic understanding and troubleshooting skills on hydraulic system and its components.
• Basic knowledge of ISO (quality) OHSAS (health safety) practices in marine industry.
