Job summary

Briotronix in India is seeking a hands-on Fire Curtain Installation Technician to carry out the physical installation, assembly, testing and commissioning of fire curtain systems at project sites across multiple locations in India.

The role involves reading basic installation drawings, using hand and power tools, coordinating with site teams to ensure installations meet safety and quality standards, and travelling to project sites as required for installation and commissioning.

Qualifications

• ITI / Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Fitter, Electronics or related trade is preferred.
• 1-3 years of experience in installation or site work.
• Experience with fire curtains or related life-safety systems is a plus.
• Ability to read basic engineering/installation drawings.

Responsibilities

• Carry out physical installation and assembly of fire curtain systems at project sites.
• Install curtain housings, guide channels, brackets and motors.
• Carry out mechanical fixing, alignment and levelling of assemblies.
• Perform cable routing and basic electrical connections as required.
• Ensure installation per approved drawings and manufacturer guidelines.
• Conduct functional testing of deployment, retraction and limit-switch operation.
• Assist in testing and commissioning with the project engineer / supervisor.
• Coordinate with civil, electrical, HVAC and other site teams.
• Maintain safety and good housekeeping at site.
• Travel to project sites for installation and commissioning activities.

Job description

We are looking for a hands-on and technically skilled Fire Curtain Installation Technician to carry out the physical installation, assembly, testing and commissioning of fire curtain systems at commercial, industrial, data centre and other project sites.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working at construction sites, reading basic installation drawings, using hand and power tools, and coordinating with site teams to ensure installations are completed safely and to the required quality standards.

Role & responsibilities

• Carry out physical installation and assembly of fire curtain systems at project sites.
• Install curtain housings, guide channels, brackets, bottom bars, motors and associated components.
• Carry out mechanical fixing, alignment and levelling of fire curtain assemblies.
• Perform cable routing and basic electrical connections associated with the fire curtain system, where required.
• Ensure correct installation as per approved drawings, manufacturer guidelines and project specifications.
• Conduct functional testing of fire curtains including deployment, retraction, alignment and limit-switch operation.
• Assist in testing and commissioning along with the project engineer / supervisor.
• Identify installation issues such as misalignment, obstruction, improper fixing or mechanical interference and rectify them.
• Coordinate with civil, electrical, HVAC and other site teams to ensure proper installation interfaces.
• Maintain good housekeeping and ensure safe working practices at site.
• Prepare basic installation / testing checklists and report site issues to the supervisor.
• Travel to project sites as required for installation and commissioning activities.

Skills & Requirements

• ITI / Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Fitter, Electronics or related trade preferred.
• 1-3 years of experience in installation, fabrication, electrical/mechanical systems or similar site work preferred.
• Experience with fire curtains, fire-rated doors, shutters, access control, ELV or fire & life safety systems will be an advantage.
• Ability to use basic hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to understand basic engineering / installation drawings.
• Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Comfortable working at heights and on construction/project sites.
• Willingness to travel to project locations.
• Should be physically fit, disciplined and safety-conscious.
• Fresh ITI/Diploma candidates with strong hands-on skills may also be considered.
