Appian in Chennai is seeking an experienced Product Manager to own the quarterly plan and drive the delivery of a major product area. You will bridge engineering, design, and go-to-market functions to bring innovative capabilities to life, while influencing backlog prioritization and roadmaps.

The role requires 3–5 years in product management within technical domains, a strong technical lens for architecture discussions, and the ability to translate complex updates into actionable insights.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech or BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3–5 years of progressive experience in Product Management, ideally within a technical or platform-oriented domain.
• Strong technical background with ability to discuss architecture with senior engineers.
• Ability to perform analytical comparisons and explain the rationale behind chosen paths.
• Excellent communication to translate complex updates into actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Own the quarterly plan and prioritize feature backlog for a major product area.
• Align backlog and roadmap, balancing technical debt, scalability, and business impact.
• Write detailed specifications for the team and peers to review.
• Track adoption and usage of new features and analyze impact with metrics.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Product Vision & Execution: Own the quarterly plan, prioritize the feature backlog, and lead the delivery for a major product area.
• Backlog & Roadmap Alignment: Prioritize the sprint and release backlog by balancing technical debt, platform scalability, and business impact to maximize customer value.
• Specification Writing: Write detailed specifications for the team and fellow product managers to review and provide feedback on.
• Impact Analysis: Track adoption and usage of new features, applying appropriate metrics and analytics to evaluate whether they are having the desired impact.
• Ownership: Own features all the way through final documentation, go-to-market, prioritization of bugs, and usage analysis.
• Team Development: Mentor junior product managers and interview product manager candidates.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor of Technology (B.E / B.Tech) BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience: 3–5 years of progressive experience in Product Management, ideally within a technical or platform-oriented domain.
• Technical at Heart: You have a strong technical background. While you don't need to write the code, you must be able to hold your own in a deep-dive architectural discussion with senior engineers.
• Analytical Reasoning: A strong ability to perform comparative analysis between different technical solutions and communicate the "why" behind a chosen path.
• Strategic Thinker: You are a problem solver with a proven ability to prioritize, negotiate, and execute in a fast-paced environment.
• Clear Communicator: You must be able to synthesize complex technical updates into actionable insights for the broader organization.
• Strive for Resolution: You don't shy away from technical disagreements. You use data and logic to reach a resolution that serves the product, not just the consensus.
• Intensity: You take personal ownership of your subsystem’s performance and adoption metrics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Prior experience designing APIs, enterprise system integrations, or process automation components.
• We value experience with enterprise platforms such as Salesforce or ServiceNow, as these skills translate well into our enterprise-grade orchestration platform.
• Prior experience designing systems that use agentic AI to accelerate user productivity.
