Job summary

Jaytech in India seeks an experienced embedded software engineer to lead development and maintenance of Linux-based system components, drivers, BSPs, and kernel-related tasks.

You will port bootloaders and kernel components to new hardware, work with Yocto/UBoot, and drive build automation. The role requires collaboration across global teams and occasional travel to Germany.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of embedded Linux development for device drivers and BSPs.
• 3+ years of embedded software development on baremetal, RTOS, Linux.
• Knowledge of Yocto, Linux kernel and UBoot; build automation tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare requirement specifications for Linux-based system components.
• Develop and maintain Linux components and system software.
• Work on kernel, boot-loader, internal control and communication, and system administration.
• Integrate components and ensure inter-compatibility across platforms.
• Port and adapt bootloader, kernel components to new hardware platforms.
• Prepare BSPs for new hardware platforms and participate in board bring-up tasks.

As a confident and competent personality, you are responsible for:

Preparing requirement specifications for Linux based system components Development / Maintenance of Linux components System components for kernel, boot-loader, internal control and communication, system maintenance and system administration Integration of components and ensuring inter-compatibility Linux based cross-platform embedded software development Porting and adapting the bootloader, Linux kernel and kernel components to new target hardware platforms Preparing BSPs for new hardware platforms Participate in board bring-up tasks Working in a team spread over multiple geographies.

Profile

Education:- Bachelors / Masters Degree in Computer / Electronics / Telecommunications / Instrumentation Engineering

Work Experience :-

• 8+ years of experience as an embedded software developer on Linux for devices drivers and BSPs,
• 3+ years of experience as an embedded software developer on baremetal, RTOS, Linux .

Methodologies:

• Knowledge in Structured Software Development Processes (i.e. V Model )
• Revamp components by refactoring and rewriting
• Active on Linux and GNU mailing lists

Knowledge:

Knowledge of the yocto buildsystem, Linux kernel and uboot

Open source tools and packages .

Build automation tools like CMake or CI tools like GitLab CI.

Experience in Unit Testing on Linux operating system.

Device Driver development.

Experience with security management, Secure Boot, signing and encryption .

Hypervisors: KVM, QEMU , Experience with filesystems, cameras.

Domain knowledge of industrial automation technologies.

Platforms :

Experience on NXP, Qualcomm, Nvidia based platforms.

Familiarity with complex and high-speed platforms.

Programming Languages :

Proficiency in C and C++ , Scripting languages - shell, python

Tools :

Experience with standard software development tools .

(Git, Subversion, GNU tools, Doxygen, etc.)

Communication & Soft Skill:

Fluent English (spoken and written), Basic German (spoken and written).

Confident and dynamic personality - self-starter and proactive.

Ability to work in teams.

Willing to travel to Germany for short durations.
