Job summary

Merck Group is seeking a Senior IAM & PAM Engineer to design, implement, and operate enterprise IAM, SSO, and PAM solutions. You will work with Keycloak and Azure Entra ID, automate provisioning workflows, and strengthen privileged access controls while ensuring compliance and audit readiness.

You will contribute to monitoring, incident response, documentation, and runbooks, and lead end-to-end IAM projects from design to implementation, collaborating with security and IT teams globally.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of IT experience focusing on Identity and Access Management.
• Hands-on experience with SSO design and implementation using Keycloak and Azure Entra ID (OIDC/SAML).
• Experience with Privileged Access Management integration, vault roles, approvals, SSH and DB access controls.
• IAM governance expertise including least-privilege, RBAC/ABAC, access reviews and compliance docs.
• Experience implementing passwordless authentication using passkeys (FIDO2/WebAuthn) with PKCE.
• Experience with automated provisioning/deprovisioning across systems and cross-system user/group/role sync.
• Proficient in monitoring, logging, incident response, and runbook creation for IAM/security platforms.
• Ability to produce architecture diagrams and handover docs; strong stakeholder management and leadership.

Your Role

As a Senior IAM & PAM Engineer, you will contribute to the design, implementation, and day-to-day operation of enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM), Single Sign-On (SSO), and Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions. Working within a collaborative team environment, you will support the delivery of secure and compliant identity services across Keycloak and Azure Entra ID, assist in automating provisioning workflows, and help maintain privileged access controls and access governance processes. You will contribute to monitoring, incident management, and documentation activities, while building your expertise and supporting the team in achieving its operational and security objectives.

Who You Are

• You bring a minimum of 5 years of experience in the IT domain with a focus on Identity and Access Management topics.
• You have deep hands-on experience with SSO design and implementation across Keycloak and Azure Entra ID using OIDC and SAML, including identity federation and brokered trust configurations.
• You have proven expertise in Privileged Access Management integration, covering vault roles, approval workflows, SSH and database access controls, session isolation, and auditing - with experience in platforms such as Infisical PAM or similar solutions.
• You bring a strong IAM governance background, including least-privilege access principles, RBAC and ABAC models, access reviews, attribute and claim governance, and compliance documentation.
• You have demonstrated experience implementing passwordless authentication using passkeys (FIDO2 and WebAuthn) with PKCE-backed flows and robust fallback and recovery strategies.
• You have experience with automated provisioning and deprovisioning processes, including cross-system synchronization of users, groups, and roles.
• You are proficient in monitoring, logging, incident response, and creating operational runbooks for IAM and security platforms.
• You can produce architecture diagrams, training materials, and handover documentation for IAM and security teams, and you bring strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to lead end-to-end IAM projects from design through to implementation.
