Job summary

Visa Consolidated Support Services India is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to maximize system availability for our Visa Cloud Platform. You will partner with software and systems teams to ensure security, availability, and performance across IaaS, PaaS and container services.

The role requires 5+ years in production support, strong Linux/Windows, networking, virtualization, CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes, and Grafana/Prometheus expertise. Hybrid work with on-call duties are expected.

Qualifications

• This role requires 5+ years in application or production support for high availability platforms.
• Hands-on Linux and Windows experience with distributed environments.
• Proficient in DNS, TCP/IP, SSL, and load balancing.
• Exposure to virtualization, CI/CD, and container tech (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with monitoring (Grafana/Prometheus) and scripting (Shell/PowerShell).
• Familiar with ITIL events, incidents, problems and changes.

Responsibilities

• Identify and support platform operations for Visa Cloud Platform services (IaaS/PaaS/containers).
• Resolve platform reliability issues and perform root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with software and systems engineers to ensure stability and performance.
• Manage end-to-end availability and performance of mission-critical services.
• Work in a 24/7/365 operation model with shift or on-call responsibilities.

The Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) is a critical part of our Visa Cloud platform strategy. As an Sr.Site Reliability Engineer, you have a mindset to maximize system availability through both proactive and reactive means: you build robust technical support and automation to eliminate or minimize incidents, as well as investigate and resolve issues in response to live incidents. You are comfortable working with software engineering teams and supporting their demanding needs to ensure the security, availability and performance of the platform. You will join an established Cloudview - Site Reliability Engineering team.

Responsibilities:

• You will identify and support all platform and user operations related to Visa Cloud Platform services (IaaS/PaaS/Container as a service)
• On a typical day, Engineer will be primarily responsible for solving platform user and reliability issues.
• You will apply advanced troubleshooting techniques to provide tailored solutions and dive deep into the root cause of an issue.
• You will partner closely with software and systems engineers across the organization to ensure services/systems are highly stable and performant
• Collaborate with other team members on managing end-to-end availability and performance of mission critical services while working on individual projects priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
• Strong communication skills with a strong sense of urgency and attention to details
• Visa Cloud SRE team has 24/7/365 operation model and work schedule will be required to work in shift or on call support model

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

• B.S. or higher in Computer Science or other technical discipline, or related practical experience
• 5+ years experience in Application or Production support group for high availability/critical platforms/applications
• Hands on experience in Linux and Windows systems and good understanding of distributed computing environments
• Experience in networking technologies including DNS, TCP/IP, SSL and Load Balancing
• Exposure to Virtualization (Hyper-V, VMware, scvmm etc)
• Experience in CI/CD/release support
• Experience with container related technologies like Docker, Kubernetes
• Experience with alerts and monitoring support (Grafana/Prometheus)
• Experience with scripting (Shell and PowerShell)
• Working knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, including creating and running queries [MySQL and NOSQL]
• Experience managing full application stacks from the OS up through custom applications
• Experience of working with ITIL disciplines (Event, Incident, Problem, Change)
• Have an urge to document all the things so you don't need to learn the same thing twice
• Have an enthusiastic, go-for-it attitude. When you see something broken, you can't help but fix it!!
