Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Lead Structural Engineer to develop and review structural documentation for modular steel structures. The role involves coordinating a team of structural engineers, delivering calculations, 3D models, drawings, and workshop docs, and ensuring compliance with ISO/EN/US codes.

Travel up to 20% and collaboration across North America, India, EMEA, and Australia are expected. The candidate should have 8+ years in steel design, proficiency in Tekla, Revit, AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, IDEA

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil/Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience, preferably in steel structures design.
• Experience with international and national codes.

Responsibilities

• Develop project conceptual and detailed structural design.
• Prepare structural documentation including calculations, 3D models, drawings and submittals.
• Coordinate with team, stakeholders, and suppliers; lead project meetings and on-site coordination.
• Review and approve outsourced design documents and supplier offers.
• Provide technical support during production, installation, and FAT.

Job description

The Lead Structural Engineer is responsible for developing the design of structural project documentation to satisfy all required inputs and requirements, ensuring safe, reliable, functional, and economical construction. The role includes design of modular steel structures of moderate to high complexity, reviewing complex structural calculations and workshop documentation with Senior Engineering, managing and coordinating the work of other structural engineers, and, when needed, participating as a design engineer in Vertiv R&D projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop project conceptual and detailed design.
• Prepare structural project documentation based on input data: static and dynamic calculations, structural 3D models, detail drawings, instructions, material submittals, presentations, and marketing materials.
• Follow international, national, and company standards and good engineering practices during design.
• Apply knowledge and experience to fulfill task requirements.
• Participate in kick‑off meetings, regular project team meetings, and on‑site coordination meetings.
• Report project status to the Project Team Leader.
• Cooperate proactively with all team members during project execution.
• Initiate RFIs where additional clarification is needed.
• Develop documents according to the Document List (DLIST).
• Develop workshop documentation and verify and approve it.
• Communicate with stakeholders in North America, India, EMEA, or Australia based on project & time overlap.
• Specify bill of material and services required for project execution.
• Specify necessary certificates for ordered materials.
• Support suppliers during the bidding phase of sourcing.
• Provide technical approval for received supplier offers.
• Provide technical support to subcontractors and installers during production/assembly.
• Cooperate with Manufacturing and Site deployment engineering team.
• Cooperate with Site Manager during assembly, providing technical solutions to raised issues.
• Cooperate with Quality Control during quality control of components/systems and assembly on site.
• Cooperate with Commissioning Engineer on testing documentation development.
• Participate in internal testing and FAT.

Authorities

• Review and approve outsourced structural design documentation.
• Approve or reject technically received supplier offers.
• Approve or reject suggested changes by subcontractor on approved workshop documentation.

Qualifications

• B.E/BTech or M.E/MTech – Civil/Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience (preferred experience in Steel Structures Design).
• Fluent English language.
• Proficient in Tekla, Revit, AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, IDEA StatiCa, MS Office, Anchoring design/Hilti Profis software, and fire design software.
• Soft skills: independent, attentive to detail, problem‑solving, organized, creative, team‑oriented, flexible, hardworking, and capable of managing and coordinating other project‑assigned structural engineers.
• Experience with ISO, EN, and American codes.

Physical & Environmental Demands

• No special physical requirements.

Time Travel Required

• 20% travel.
