Job summary

Google Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer for YouTube Create in Bengaluru. You will own roadmaps, provide technical direction, and mentor ~40 engineers while ensuring alignment with OKRs and cross‑team collaboration.

We expect extensive experience in large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, and strong leadership to drive strategic engineering decisions across multiple workstreams. English proficiency is required for global collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 7 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

Responsibilities

• Participate in setting up the overall goal and roadmap for the coming years for this product and provide technical guidance for the team of ~40 engineers working on YouTube Create App in Bengaluru.
• Provide technical leadership, and establish and advocate for the best engineering practices across teams at YouTube.
• Provide technical mentorship and support the TLMs and TLs on the team with technical decisions.
• Co‑own delivery of OKR and roadmap with the TLMs.
• Drive cross-organizational collaboration and ensure the strategy, direction, and decisions of multiple work streams are integrated, aligned, and positioned to support differentiation.
