Zscaler is seeking a Senior Staff Site Reliability Engineer for a hybrid role based in Bengaluru. You will own reliability of a global fleet across cloud and on-prem, building self-healing automation and observability into the platform.

You will collaborate with teams to enforce production readiness, SLOs, and rollback strategies while advancing telemetry with Prometheus/Grafana.

Qualifications

• Foundational understanding of AI/ML technologies and experience leveraging AI-driven solutions to optimize outcomes in your domain.
• 7+ years of Production/Platform/Infrastructure Engineering experience in cloud or hybrid environments.
• Deep Linux/Unix mastery including OS internals, kernel networking, boot pipelines and debugging.
• Hands-on experience with GCP/AWS and on-prem data centers; IaC tooling (Terraform, Ansible) for both environments.
• Expertise building durable, idempotent automation in Python and/or Go.

Responsibilities

• Develop production-grade automation in Ansible, Python and/or Go for bare-metal provisioning and hardware lifecycle operations.
• Design fault-tolerant provisioning systems with self-healing and auto-remediation capabilities.
• Develop telemetry pipelines for hardware and system monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana, VictoriaMetrics, Telegraf).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions and participate in Agile/Scrum processes.
• Partner with SWE teams to define production-readiness criteria including SLOs, health checks, and rollback requirements.

Role

We are looking for a Senior Staff Site Reliability Engineer to join our team. This is a hybrid role based in Bangalore, reporting to the Director, Engineering in the Production Engineering and Reliability team in India. You will own the reliability and operational integrity of a global fleet spanning GCP, AWS, and bare-metal infrastructure - building self-healing automation, hardening provisioning workflows, and embedding observability into every layer of the platform.

What you’ll do

• Develop production-grade automation in Ansible, Python and/or Go for bare-metal provisioning, IPMI/Redfish-based hardware lifecycle operations, and autonomous remediation
• Design and implement fault-tolerant provisioning systems with self-healing and auto-remediation capabilities
• Develop telemetry pipelines for hardware and system monitoring - integrating metrics, logs, and distributed tracing (Prometheus, Grafana, Victoria Metrics, Telegraf)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions and contribute to Agile/Scrum processes like sprint planning and retrospectives
• Partner directly with SWE teams to define and enforce production-readiness criteria - including SLOs, health-check standards, and rollback requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Foundational understanding of AI/ML technologies and experience leveraging, securing, or positioning AI-driven solutions to optimize outcomes within your functional domain
• 7+ years of Production Engineering, Platform Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering experience in a Cloud or hybrid environment
• Deep Linux/Unix systems mastery - OS internals, kernel networking, boot pipelines and low-level system debugging
• Hands-on operational experience across GCP and/or AWS alongside on-prem datacenter operations, with a working command of infrastructure-as-code tooling (Terraform, Ansible) for both environments
• Expertise building durable, idempotent, and repeatable automation using Python and/or Go

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience implementing AIOps, AI-driven predictive scaling, or automated anomaly detection to optimize cloud infrastructure performance and reliability
• Experience building or operating stateful orchestration systems using Temporal.io, Cadence, or equivalent
• Built and scaled a full observability stack from scratch
