Overview

Senior/Staff Device Characterization Engineer at Micron. You will drive technology development by being accountable for electrical device-level measurements on memory and storage solutions, enable test frameworks, and propose methodologies to characterize novel/advanced devices. You will debug measurement issues, perform device data analysis, and summarize results for customers. You will partner with engineering teams across process integration, process development, design, product, and quality & reliability.

Responsibilities

• Setup and perform measurements for several device flavors.
• Analyze and optimize technology behavior, including statistical analyses of measured data from early technology lots and wafers.
• Leverage device background and measurement expertise to solve device problems.
• Track and improve specifications through different stages of technology maturity.
• Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness, while complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong background in solid-state physics, semiconductor processing, and characterization.
• Expertise in operating and automating semiconductor instrumentation, including parameter analyzers, LCR meters, oscilloscopes, pulse & waveform generators, wafer probers, ATE, and bench systems.
• Proficiency in software tools and operating systems, including Python/C/C#/C++ on Unix/Linux PJMP/JSL.
• Deep understanding of device operation in memory systems including NAND, DRAM, PCM, storage class, and cross-point memories.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong background in solid-state physics, semiconductor processing and characterization.
• Experience in operation and automation of semiconductor instrumentation including parameter analyzers, LCR meters, oscilloscopes, pulse & waveform generators, wafer probers, ATE, and bench systems.
• Knowledge of a variety of software tools and operating systems, including Python/C/C#/C++ on Unix/Linux PJMP/JSL.
• Deep understanding of device operation in memory systems including NAND, DRAM, PCM, storage class, and cross-point memories.
• Strong data analytics skills and experience automating data analysis methods.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
• Master’s (M Tech, MS) or Ph.D. in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
• Comfortable using internal AI tools by Micron (Copilot / Claude).
