About Team: Tax Platform

The tax platform org scales our ability to compliantly work with thousands of agencies and taxes globally. Supporting a filing platform serving a large internal operations team, the team is critical in driving tax filing and payment correctness and timeliness.

What you will do

The technical challenges we are facing are complex. We need a seasoned technical expert who has built complex platforms for global technology companies before. Your responsibilities will include:

• Acting as a technical leader within the engineering organization.
• Identifying and advocating for projects of high complexity that involve multiple stakeholders across the organization.
• Taking ambiguous technical problem statements and turning them into an actionable plan, and then executing on it with the team.
• Modeling and executing against requirements involving complex and interdependent systems related to employment rules, country-specific requirements, international currencies, and more.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will be expected to dive in deep and emerge with a written plan for execution that represents the collective needs of multiple teams.
• Actively participate in coding and code reviews, using languages such as Python, Golang, and Java.
• Mentor and support engineers across the organization, fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and technical excellence.
• Develop and maintain systems with high availability and reliability
• Implement comprehensive observability practices, including monitoring, logging, and tracing, to ensure system health and performance

Required Qualifications

• 15+ years of professional experience as a software engineer
• Deep experience in product and platform engineering
• You have seen systems operating at significant technical and organizational scale
• Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Experience in building projects with good abstractions and architecture
• Comfortable at developing scalable and extendable core services used in many products
• Expertise building complex, distributed services with Python, Golang, or Java
• Strong CS knowledge
• Bonus points if you’ve previously worked with AWS
