Job summary

Merck Group in Bengaluru, India, seeks an experienced SAP Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) lead to own the end-to-end lifecycle of SAP EHS applications—from requirements gathering and solution design to delivery, release and ongoing support.

You will serve as the primary accountable for SAP EHS application management, translate regulatory and operational requirements into scalable SAP solutions, and drive change, incident resolution, and governance with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS, IT, or related field.
• 8+ years in software or application services, including international experience.
• Expert knowledge of SAP EHS modules: product safety, label management, dangerous goods.

Your Role

• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of SAP Environment, Health and Safety applications, from requirements gathering and solution design to delivery, release, and ongoing support.
• Serve as the primary point of accountability for SAP EHS application management and service performance.
• Translate complex regulatory and operational requirements into sustainable, scalable, and compliant SAP solutions.
• Provide specialist expertise across Product Safety, Hazardous Substance Management, Global Label Management, and Dangerous Goods Management.
• Lead the resolution of critical incidents and problems, minimizing business disruption and improving service reliability.
• Drive effective change, release, and project management, including testing, go-live, handover, and lifecycle planning.
• Own system governance, including security, vulnerability management, data protection, quality standards, and regulatory compliance.
• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to consult, challenge, influence, and deliver future-ready solutions.

Who You Are

• You hold a degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, or bring equivalent professional experience in enterprise application management.
• You have at least 8 years of experience in software or application services, including a minimum of 3 years working within an international environment.
• You bring expert-level knowledge of SAP Environment, Health and Safety functionality, including product safety, substance volume tracking, hazardous substance master data, global label management, and dangerous goods management.
• You have solid experience in SAP cross-application areas and a good understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning integration, including order-to-cash processes and master data governance for materials.
• You are proficient in change, release, and incident management processes, with the ability to lead critical issue resolution and coordinate across technical and business stakeholders independently.
• You have a working understanding of ABAP, including debugging, and can effectively support technical teams with development activities such as reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms, and workflows.
• You communicate clearly and confidently in English (written and spoken); proficiency in German is an advantage.
• You are familiar with labeling technologies and third-party Environment, Health and Safety applications; knowledge of Standard Operating Procedure governance and audit compliance processes is a plus.
