What youll do:This position is part of Chief Engineers office, developing Power Products for Datacenter and Electrical Systems. The Senior Specialist Digital Power Systems (Datacenter) is a key technical contributor responsible for the architecture, design, and development of digitally controlled power conversion systems used in data center infrastructure. This role combines power electronics product development with strong embedded firmware and software expertise to deliver reliable, effective, and scalable solutions for critical power applications.
The role operates with high technical autonomy, influencing platform level design decisions across Power shelves, Solid State Breakers, Energy Storage Systems and DC distribution systems, while collaborating closely with cross functional teams including hardware, firmware, systems, and manufacturing engineering.
As a digitization Subject Matter Expert, the incumbent will be responsible for understanding customer/product requirement and from there define embedded system architecture and design. The person will be responsible for detailed software development, including coding, testing and debugging. The person will take ownership of building innovation in embedded system architecture for product differentiation. Contribution of this role will bring competitive advantage of EATON products in market.
Incumbent will be responsible for working within a cross functional team to deliver on project requirements. The person is expected to work with local and global team members located in India, U.S, Europe, China etc. Success will require deep knowledge of embedded hardware and software architecture. The incumbent is expected to execute complete embedded software development lifecycle. The goal is to create scalable and optimized software systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership & Product Development Understand top level product requirement and drill them down to create detail requirements of digital systems for the product
- Technical Leadership & Product Development Lead the design and development of digital power electronics systems for data center applications, focusing on control and communication systems
- Technical Leadership & Product Development Define control architecture, and digital power management strategies aligned to efficiency, reliability, and cost targets
- Technical Leadership & Product Development Perform software architecture tradeoff studies for data center power platforms
- Embedded Firmware & Control Systems Architect and develop embedded firmware/software for digitally controlled power converters using MCU/DSPbased control platforms
- Embedded Firmware & Control Systems Design and implement control algorithms (current, voltage, power, protection, sequencing) in C/C++ and/or modelbased environments
- Embedded Firmware & Control Systems Integrate firmware with systemlevel monitoring, telemetry, and communications (CAN, UART, Ethernet, Modbus, etc.)
- System Integration & Validation Develop test and validation plan in accordance with industry standards and customer requirements
- System Integration & Validation Collaborate with hardware, mechanical, and systems engineers to ensure robust HWFW codesign
- System Integration & Validation Support system bringup, validation, and fault analysis, including EMI/EMC, thermal, transient, and abnormalcondition testing
- System Integration & Validation Drive resolution of complex technical issues spanning power electronics, firmware, and system behavior
- Platform & Standards Influence Contribute to reference architecture, design standards, and reusable firmware frameworks within the data center power domain
- Platform & Standards Influence Mentor junior engineers and act as a technical reviewer for critical designs
- Platform & Standards Influence Interface with global teams, suppliers, and manufacturing partners to ensure design robustness and scalability
Qualifications
- Qualifications Masters in Electrical/Electronics/Computer Engineering with 15+ years in embedded software development
- Qualifications Strong expertise in digitally controlled power converters, embedded firmware (C/C++), and MCU/DSP systems
- Qualifications Proven experience in IoT development, embedded debugging, and hardwaresoftware integration
- Qualifications Proficient in OS internals, IP protocols, network programming, and hardware interfaces
- Qualifications Skilled in MATLAB/Simulink, model-based design, and requirement analysis with cost optimization
- Qualifications Hands-on with CAN protocols/tools, device drivers (USB, I2C, SPI, UART, RS-485), and schematics reading
- Qualifications Advanced programming in C/C++/C#, OOP, RTOS, multithreading, and data structures
- Qualifications Experience with ARM, TI, Renesas, FPGA/CPLD, and Linux/Windows environments
- Qualifications Strong knowledge of Ethernet drivers, TCP/IP stack, and industrial protocols (Profinet, Ethernet/IP)
