Job summary

Avalara is seeking a seasoned presales consultant to support customers and internal teams across APAC from Pune. You will lead demonstrations, translate tax requirements into tax automation solutions, and collaborate with sales, product, and engineering to shape winning proposals.

You will work with ERP and e-commerce platforms, discuss architectures, data needs, and integrations with SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Workday, and MS Dynamics 365.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in presales consulting, solution consulting, sales engineering, SaaS, or professional services.
• Strong understanding of indirect tax, including VAT, GST, Sales & Use Tax, and cross-border compliance.
• Familiarity with ERP, e-commerce, finance, or tax technology integrations; SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Workday, or Microsoft D365 is preferred.
• Excellent presentation, discovery, communication, and stakeholder-influencing skills.
• Ability to simplify complex business, tax, and technical concepts and connect them to customer value.
• Experience scoping solutions, managing technical objections, and supporting enterprise sales cycles.
• Highly self-driven, adaptable, organised, and comfortable working remotely across time zones.
• Strong learning agility and a genuine interest in tax automation and customer outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Scope tailored solutions, document requirements, and contribute to proposals, statements of work, and technical responses.
• Act as a trusted advisor by simplifying complex tax and technology topics for both technical and business stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Implementation, Customer Success, and Professional Services to support smooth onboarding and delivery.
• Share market insight, customer feedback, and solution learnings to inform APAC strategy and product innovation.
• Work effectively across time zones with teams and customers in Australia, India, and the wider APAC region.
